Honda Motorcycle & Scooters India (HMSI) today pulled the covers off its awaited offering in the 160cc bike segment, the Honda X-Blade 160cc, at the 2018 Auto Expo. Placed above its own model, Honda CB Hornet 160R, the X-Blade is more premium product. Honda has put in some really premium and many first-in-segment features in the form of razor sharp styling, segment first full LED headlamps, position lamp, LED taillights, aggressive tank design, dual outlet muffler, digital meter etc. The launch of new X-Blade will happen in India by March this year with price tag falling between Rs 80,000-85,000 (ex-showroom).
The visual appeal of the sporty looking bike is enhanced by its edgy headlight upfront, which Honda has termed ‘Robo-face’, which seems more like Iron Man/Transformer inspired. The X-Blade is designed keeping in mind young bloods and millennials in the country. The 160cc bike gets a taller fly-screen, an underbelly cowl, attractive grab rails and an all-new restructured LED tail-lamp. The impressive styling of the Honda X-Blade also features a gear position indicator, hazard lights, service indicator, white back-light, Hornet-like full-digital console and twin-outlet muffler.
Honda X-Blade rides on the same 162.7cc air-cooled motor as seen on the Honda CB Hornet 160R. However, difference is seen on the output numbers. The X-Blade engine produces 13.9hp at 8,500rpm and 13.9Nm at 6,000rpm, while Hornet’s motor makes 15hp of power and 14.76Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Furthermore, the tyres too witness some trimming in the form of 80/110 R17 (front) and 130/70 R17 (rear) as opposed to the slightly larger 100/80 R17 (front) and 140/70 R17 (rear) tyres of the Hornet.
The Honda X-Blade will be offered in as many as 5 vibrant shades viz. – Pearl Igneous Black, Matte Marvel Blue Metallic, Matte Marshal Green Metallic, Pearl Spartan Red and Matte Frozen Silver.
