New Ford Freestyle Cross-Hatch Explained Variant Wise

Ford will be launching its Freestyle cross-hatch this month. The American automaker released some specifications of its upcoming car, most of which pertain to the engine option which will be offered in the Freestyle. Just days before its launch, Ford has also released the official brochure of Freestyle CUV which lists out the details of the variants that the car will be offered in. We will take a thorough look and present features and specs of the said variants to help you pick the right car for you.

Dimensions

Ford Freestyle shares its underpinnings with the Figo hatchback but in a true cross-hatch tradition, the upcoming car is much bigger than its standard hatchback sibling. The one dimension that is vital in distinguishing a cross hatch from its other avatars is the ground clearance. Ford Freestyle will be offered with a 190 mm of suspension travel which is 16mm more than that of the Figo hatchback.

Engines

The petrol variant of Ford Freestyle will get a 1.2-litre Dragon Series engine, which produces 96PS of peak power output and 120 Nm of torque. The power has been upped by 9PS and there are 8Nm of torque more than as compared to the standard motor found in the Ford Figo. The 1.2-litre Dragon series motor is also more frugal as compared to the standard engine found in its hatchback counterpart and comes with an ARAI claimed fuel economy of 19 kmpl. The diesel model gets the same 1.5-litre engine which we find in Aspire compact sedan and Figo hatchback which produces 100PS of power and 215 Nm of torque. The diesel model is offered with a claimed fuel economy of 24.4 kmpl and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox which is also offered in the petrol variants.

Ford Freestyle cross-hatch is available in four variants; however, we expect additional variants like Ford EcoSport and Figo to be made available later in the car’s lifecycle. Ford Freestyle is available in silver, grey, gold, Canyon Ridge, white and black colour schemes.

Accessories

Ford is offering a host of additional accessories along with the features found across the variants of Freestyle. Customers can opt to get different roof wraps, body stripe kits, rear spoiler, ambient lighting, shark fin antenna, window weather shield, engine under shield and sun blinds. An option of a rear-view camera is also available on the lower variants of Ford Freestyle. The company is offering the option of adding-on automatic headlamps and alloy wheels on these variants as additional features.

Launch:

There has not been any official word from the company confirming the launch date of Ford freestyle, however, it is highly likely that the cross-hatch will be launched in the coming weeks. Dealers across the country have started taking bookings for the upcoming car. Ford Freestyle will rival Toyota Etios Cross, Honda WR-V, and Fiat Avventura.
