Expected to launch by 2020-end or early 2021, may get powerful turbo petrol powertrain

Uncovered by the Britain based carmaker at the Auto Expo 2020, the MG Gloster will feature three-row seats and a plethora of premium elements inside its voluminous cabin. Expected to carry an aggressive price tag, it will hit Indian roads by the year-end or early next year. The luxury SUV in India will be seen with different seating layouts of 6 (2+2+2) and 7 (2+3+2).

The three-row SUV is based on the Maxus D90, an SUV from MG Motor’s parent company SAIC. The front of the Gloster sees huge fascia with a large grille that carries horizontally placed slats. The muscular and imposing emergence is doubled with large headlamps and wide bumper with big fog lamp housing. The side profile comes with chrome borders at the windows, while the tailgate at rear gets chrome element and a large Gloster logo. And to complement its enormous road presence are the 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

With an extraordinary 5005mm length, the MG luxury SUV is longer than Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Similarly, wheelbase reading 2950mm is easily longer than the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Other extensive dimensions of the Gloster include a width of 1932mm and height of 1875mm.

The MG Gloster SUV is expected to draw power from a 2.0L turbocharged petrol mill that can pull out a gigantic power of 220bhp and highest torque of 360Nm. In addition to petrol, Gloster may also get a diesel choice in the form of bi-turbo diesel engine giving out 212bhp and 480Nm of power and torque figures respectively. The petrol will be mated to a 6-speed AT or a 6-speed manual gearbox, while the diesel counterpart will be marred to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
