Top 10 Fastest Bikes in The World – Benchmarks Redefined!
It was towards the end of 20th century, when the Suzuki Hayabusa arrived, and created many new benchmarks. The Japanese ‘falcon’ on two wheels restarted the race of world’s fastest bikes, the list of which has seen a lot of changes in the last ten years, thanks to new innovations and electronics in the world of motorcycles.
Following is the updated list of top 10 fastest bikes in the world, most of which is dominated by the new brigade of liter class super sports:
Kawasaki Ninja H2R
The Kawasaki Ninja H2R is the track-only version of the standard Ninja H2, and with this motorcycle, Kawasaki has put in all of its expertise of motorcycle engineering. The Kawasaki Ninja H2R gets the same 999cc inline four engine of the H2. However, it is in its full-blown avatar here, making 310 bhp of maximum power and 165 Nm of maximum torque. The motorcycle is capable of hitting a top speed of 400 kmph, making it the only motorcycle in current production to hit this mark. The Kawasaki Ninja H2R is priced at Rs. 79.60 lakh, though it is not available for legal use.
Ducati Superleggera V4
The best sample of Italian engineering on two wheels, the Ducati Superleggera V4, is one of the best liter class super sports to have ever come out of Ducati’s factory. This fully blown version of Panigale is one extremely light weighted motorcycle, thanks to its extensive use of carbon fiber. Powering the Ducati Superleggera V4 is a 998cc V4 DOHC engine, which makes 234 bhp of maximum power and 119 Nm of torque, thus making it the most powerful road-legal liter class super sport motorcycle in the world right now. The motorcycle has its top speed rated at 306 kmph.

Kawasaki Ninja H2
While Kawasaki has put its best in the track-only H2R, the standard Ninja H2 is not too far behind in this list of world’s fastest bikes. Like the H2R, the standard Kawasaki Ninja H2R too has a supercharged 999cc inline four engine, which though has been detuned a bit for making it fit for road use. However, with a maximum power output of 228 bhp and a peak torque output of 141.7 Nm, the Ninja H2 is no less than extraordinary. Factor in the ram air assist, and the maximum power output can reach up to 239 bhp. The top speed of the Kawasaki Ninja H2 is fixed at 300 kmph.
Ducati Panigale V4R
For those who think the Superleggera V4 is too outlandish to their taste, Ducati offers a slightly ‘subtler’ motorcycle in the form of the Panigale V4R. However, by no means, the Ducati Panigale V4R is a toned down motorcycle in isolation, for it is one high quality super sport rich with extensive suite of electronics. The motorcycle is fitted with a 998cc 90-degree V4 engine, which has the capacity to produce maximum power and torque outputs of 221 bhp and 112 Nm respectively. The motorcycle is capable of breaching the 300 kmph mark, and as soon as it does, the speedometer goes blank.

BMW M1000RR
The BMW M1000RR is the more elusive and powerful version of the standard S1000RR – a motorcycle which already has put BMW on the pedestal of one of the best liter class super sport motorcycles out there. The BMW M1000RR is available in two variants – Base and Competition. The motorcycle shares its 999cc inline four engine, which here pumps out 212 bhp of maximum power and 113 Nm of maximum torque. The M1000RR has better acceleration figures and power to weight ratio over the standard S1000RR, and has a claimed top speed of 306 kmph. BMW has made the M1000RR available in India at a starting price of Rs. 42 lakh.
Aprilia RSV4 Factory
The Aprilia RSV4 Factory was available in India before, and now it is compliant to Euro 5 emission norms, it will soon make a comeback to Indian market. The flagship motorcycle from Aprilia, the RSV4 Factory packs in a 1099cc 65-degree V4 engine, which produces a maximum power output of 217 bhp and a maximum torque output of 130 Nm. The Aprilia RSV4 Factory hits a top speed of 305 kmph, which along with an up-to-date modern day suite of electronics, gives it an image of the best super sport motorcycles in the world.
Honda CBR1000RR-R SP
With the new generation CBR1000RR-R SP, Honda has made its comeback in the race of the most powerful and fastest liter class super sport motorcycles. The new generation liter class Honda now comes with a host of electronic riding aids and premium bits like titanium exhaust muffler. The engine – a 999cc inline four engine – breathes out a maximum power output of 214.5 bhp and a peak torque output of 113 Nm, and makes the motorcycle to reach a top speed of electronically limited 299 kmph.
Ducati Streetfighter V4 S
The Ducati Streetfighter nameplate has made a comeback in the world of hyper nakeds, and this time around with all guns ablaze. The new version, Streetfighter V4 S, now ranks in as the most powerful and fastest naked roadster in the world, courtesy the 1103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine. With a maximum power output of 208 bhp and peak torque output of 123 Nm, the Ducati Streetfighter V4 S has a claimed top speed of 299 kmph (electronically limited).
MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR
Following the launch of Streetfighter V4 S, the race of supremacy in liter class naked raodsters has begun once again, which is quite evident by the arrival of new MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR. This new Italian roadster comes with a 999cc inline four engine, which puts up 208 bhp of maximum power and 116.5 Nm of maximum torque. The MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR can hit a top speed of more than 300 kmph, and has an outlandish design as well as whole new suite of electronics.
Suzuki GSX-1000R
With the current generation GSX-1000R, Suzuki has managed to remain in this list of fastest motorcycles in the world, something which it used to be the king before with the legendary Hayabusa. The Suzuki GSX-1000R is the Japanese company’s offering in the tightly contested liter class super sport category, and has a 998.4cc inline four engine to contend in the segment. The engine belts out 199 bhp of power and 117.6 Nm of torque, and reaches a top speed of electronically limited 299 kmph.
