2022 BMW i4 price in india

BMW has expanded its all-electric lineup of vehicles with the all-new i4 four-door electric coupe in India. The new BMW i4 has been launched in India in a single variant, which has been priced at Rs 69.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). With this, the new i4 becomes the second all-electric offering from BMW to get launched in India, after the iX flagship electric SUV launched in the country at the beginning of 2022. Like the iX SUV, the BMW i4 is also brought to India through the CBU route.

The new BMW i4 looks very much like the four-door 4-Series sold by BMW in many overseas markets. However, as expected, the i4 gets a few distinctive touches reminiscent of its all-electric offerings, such as a closed theme for the vertically-aligned double-kidney grille, re-profiled front and rear bumpers, front lip spoiler, blue accents in the headlamps, flush-type door handles, 17-inch aerodynamically-optimized alloy wheels and 10-stage active air flap. All the changes do make the BMW i4 more aerodynamic and improve the efficiency and cooling of the battery at higher speeds. Among all the BMW offerings, the i4 has the lowest drag coefficient of 0.24. The BMW i4 measures 4,783mm long, 1,852mm wide and 1,448mm tall while having a wheelbase of 2,856mm and a ground clearance of 125mm.

2022 BMW i4 – Interior

Like the exterior, the interior of the BMW i4 closely resembles that of the 4-Series coupe. It misses out on a flat floor. However, it looks properly futuristic due to the wide curved full-TFT screen which houses a 12.3-inch TFT instrument console and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. This screen runs on BMW’s latest iDrive 8 user interface, which supports wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto as well as over-the-air updates.

Other features which are being offered in the BMW i4 as standard include a sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, 17-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, park assist with a 360-degree camera and powered front seats.

Based on BMW’s CLAR architecture, the new BMW i4 is available in India in a single eDrive 40 variant. It means that it gets a floor-mounted 83.9 kWh battery pack and a rear axle-mounted electric motor. The battery pack here has a claimed maximum driving range of 590 km (WLTP cycle) and supports charging up to 205 kW, which can add 164 km of range in just 10 minutes of charging. Though, with the regular wall-mounted traditional 11 kW charger, the battery pack can be charged from 0-100 per cent in 8.5 hours.

The rear axle-mounted electric motor of the i4 pumps out a maximum power output of 340 bhp, while the peak torque output of the motor is rated at 430 Nm. With this motor, the BMW i4 can cover a 0-100 kmph sprint in 5.7 seconds, while the top speed of the car is restricted electronically to 190 kmph.

The Indian market is not getting the M50 xDrive variant, which is available as the range-topping variant of the i4 globally. This particular variant has an all-wheel-drive variant, with single electric motors on both front and rear axles. The combined power and torque outputs of these motors are rated at 544 bhp and 795 Nm respectively. It offers a quicker 0-100 kph acceleration in 3.9 seconds and a maximum range of 510 km.
