Facelifted Lexus ES Luxury Sedan Launched at Rs 56.65 Lakh in India

Lexus has brought in the updated version of its most affordable model in the Indian car market, the ES executive luxury sedan. The new Lexus ES now features minor updates to its exterior design and additional equipment in and out. To be available in two variants, the new Lexus ES now starts at Rs 56.65 lakh.

The new Lexus ES has been launched as a full petrol hybrid sedan only, which will be available in two different variants – Exquisite and Luxury. While the Exquisite variant has been priced at Rs 56.65 lakh, the more premium Luxury variant commands a price of Rs 61.85 lakh. These prices make the new Lexus ES pricier by almost Rs 10,000 when compared to its erstwhile version.

2021 Lexus ES: Exterior Changes

To start with, the new Lexus ES is on offer with two new paint options of Sonic Chrome and Sonic Iridium. There is a series of minor tweaks to the exterior design of the sedan, including a new version of Lexus’ traditional ‘spindle’ grille, slimmer and sharper Z-shaped all-LED headlamps and a new pattern for the 18-inch alloy wheels. The rest of the car, including the design for the front and rear bumpers, door panels and LED tail lamps remain the same as before.

2021 Lexus ES: Interior Changes

The cabin of the Lexus ES has witnessed more changes over its exterior, however, they are as minor as the changes on the outside. The biggest change here is the replacement of dual-tone black and cream upholstery with a new black and walnut combination. The centre console has been revised with a new bigger and touch-sensitive infotainment system. Even the controls for the automatic climate control and lower part of the centre console have been restyled.

Apart from the new touchscreen infotainment system, the rest of the equipment list of the Lexus ES more or less remains unchanged. The cabin continues to get a single-pane electric sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, power-adjustable and reclining front and rear seats, head-up display, 17-speaker Mark Levinson music system, heated and ventilated front seats with memory function and hands-free opening for boot lid.

2021 Lexus ES: Powertrain

The Lexus ES continues to hold the distinction of being the only petrol-hybrid sedan in its category. The sedan gets a combination of a 2.5-litre four-cylinder 178 bhp petrol engine and an 88 kW permanent magnet electric motor. The combined power output of this powertrain combination is rated at 218 bhp. This engine sends power to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox.

2021 Lexus ES: Competition

The Lexus ES sedan continues to rival the midsize executive luxury sedans like Mercedes Benz E-Class, BMW 5-series, Audi A6, Jaguar XF and Volvo S90. The sedan can be purchased through authorized exclusive dealer outlets of Lexus situated in Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi and Hyderabad.
