After updating both of its best-sellers Sonet and Seltos SUVs, Kia has brought in the first update for its flagship model in India, the Carnival MPV. The new Kia Carnival now comes with minor visual tweaks on the outside and few additional features on the inside, apart from getting a new range-topping Limousine Plus variant.
2021 Kia Carnival: Price and Variants
The new Kia Carnival is now available in a total of four trim levels – Premium, Prestige, Limousine and Limousine Plus. All these trims come with a seven-seating configuration as standard, however, the Premium and Prestige variants also come with optional 8-seater and 9-seater versions respectively. The new updated prices of all the variants are as follows:
Kia Carnival Premium 7-seater – Rs 24.95 lakh
Kia Carnival Premium 8-seater – Rs 25.15 lakh
Kia Carnival Prestige 7-seater – Rs 29.49 lakh
Kia Carnival Prestige 9-seater – Rs 29.95 lakh
Kia Carnival Limousine 7-seater – Rs 31.99 lakh
Kia Carnival Limousine 7-seater – Rs 33.99 lakh
2021 Kia Carnival: Exterior Changes
Instead of bringing in the all-new generation model of the Carnival which has already gone for sale in global markets, Kia has chosen to update the current Indian-spec model with a list of tweaks. The exterior of the Carnival now wears the new Kia logos at front and rear, with a new set of 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels offered as standard across the range.
2021 Kia Carnival: Interior Changes
The biggest change to the new Kia Carnival happens to be the inclusion of a new top-end Limousine variant to the lineup, which now sees a few additional features making their way in the cabin. This variant gets an electronic parking brake, ventilated driver’s seat with 10-way power adjustments, leather upholstery, 8-speaker Harman Kardon music system, premium wood garnish, tyre pressure monitoring system and dual 10.1-inch entertainment screens for rear passengers.
Interestingly, the Limousine variant, which was the erstwhile top-end variant, now comes with lesser features than before. The variant now misses out on dual 10.1-inch entertainment screens, leather-wrapped gear lever and steering wheel and powered and ventilated driver’s seat. However, this variant now comes with a single 10.1-inch rear-seat entertainment screen, captain seats in second row with extendable leg support and an auto-dimming internal rearview mirror. In addition to this, the feature of leather seats is now standard across the range barring the entry-level Premium variant.
The Kia Carnival continues to get other features like dual pane sunroofs, LED projector headlamps LED fog lamps, electric tailgate, power sliding rear doors, three-zone automatic climate control, cruise control and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
2021 Kia Carnival: Powertrain
There are no changes to the heart of the Kia Carnival, with the MPV continuing to get the standard combination of a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. With a claimed fuel efficiency of 13.9 kpl, this engine makes 200 bhp of maximum power and 440 Nm of maximum torque.
