The British carmaker Land Rover has finally launched the all-new Defender in India. The bookings have already started for both the models – the short wheelbase (three-door) Defender 90 spec as well as long-wheelbase Defender 110 (five-door). It will be sold in India as a completely built unit (CBU) and both body types are being offered in five variants- Base, S, SE, HSE and First Edition.

Price Range

All new 2020 Land Rover Defender has been launched in India at the starting price of ₹ 69.99 lakh for the base Defender 90 variant. The price goes up to ₹ 87.10 lakh for the range topping Defender 110 HSE variant (all prices ex-showroom, India).

Dimensions

An all-new platform for the Defender called the D7X has been designed by Land Rover. It has the stiffest chassis ever designed; in fact, it’s three times stiffer than a body-on-ladder frame. If we talk about the dimensions of the car, the Defender 90 measures 4,583mm in length, 1,974mm in height and has a 2,587mm-long wheelbase. On the other hand, Defender 110 measures 5,018mm in length, 1,967mm in height and has a 3,022mm-long wheelbase. Looking for the common ground, both the models are 2,008mm wide and have a maximum wading depth of 900mm. Defender 90 is a three door car that is 5 seater, while the 110 model comes with 5 door that is a 5+2 seater.

Features

The top-spec First Edition variants will come with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, heads-up display, automatic climate control, connected car tech, wireless charging, a Meridian audio system, 12-way electrically adjustable and heated front seats, a 360-degree surround camera, LED headlights and Electronic Air Suspension (Standard on 110).

Safety kit is standard and includes 6 airbags, ABS, traction control, a driver condition monitor, blind spot assist and front and rear parking sensors. 2020 Land Rover Defender has a rugged appeal, the interiors support grained leather and woven textile seats and rubber flooring. If the car gets dirty, it will be super easy to clean it.

Engine Power

Turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, Land Rover Defender emits maximum power and torque, which is rated at 300hp and 400Nm, respectively. An 8-speed automatic gearbox comes as a standard along with Land Rover’s Terrain Response All-Wheel Drive system.
