Along with all the prominent global luxury carmakers, Lexus too has commenced its journey of electrification and has signaled that with the Lexus LF-Z Electrified concept. The new Lexus LF-Z Electrified gives a preview of what Lexus has in store for its first step in complete electrical mobility.

The major highlights of the Lexus LF-Z will be retained in the upcoming all-electric offerings from Lexus, starting 2025. However, it is not clear that which car, SUV or crossover will be based on the lines of Lexus LF-Z concept.

The Lexus LF-Z is rightfully termed as the next generation of Lexus, for it previews an edgy and futuristic design language over the current lineup of offerings from the Japanese luxury carmaker. Being an electric car, the Lexus LF-Z ditches the traditional large ‘spindle grille. However, the design of the nose of the car mimics that very design, which extends down to the lower edge of the front bumper.

On the sides, the Lexus LF-Z shares a lot of design cues with a few of Toyota models like the CH-R crossover and Mirai. The roof completely is finished in a theme of glass, which tapers down towards the boot at the back. The stubby boot of the concept comes with the word ‘electrified’ across its width in an illuminated fashion. In addition, the word ‘Lexus’ too is embossed across the tail lamps.

Another major highlight of the cabin happens to be the presence of a gaming-console like yoke in place of a conventional steering wheel, which is expected to feature drive-by-wire steering system.

While it is not clear on what platform the Lexus LF-Z is based on, the production model based on it is expected to sit on Toyota’s all-new e-TNGA platform. This new platform is going to be the base for many electric vehicles from Toyota in future, including its first all-electric crossover, the Toyota bZ4X.

One thing which is clear that the Lexus LF-Z concept comes with a ‘Direct4’ drive system, which includes two motors with variable power delivery to all the four wheels. For now, the concept is bestowed with a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which returns an estimated driving range of 373 miles (ETA cycle).
