Mahendra Singh Dhoni adds a cool-looking 1971 Land Rover Series 3 Station Wagon to his collection

Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is not only known for his achievements in the cricket field but also his amazing taste in cars and motorcycles. In a recent event, Dhoni has added a cool-looking 1971 Land Rover Series 3 Station Wagon in his garage. The said vehicle has been bought by him in an auction event conducted by a premium pre-owned vehicle dealership, Big Boy Toyz (BBT).

The Series 3 Station Wagon was a prime model made by Land Rover between 1971 and 1985, of which a total of 4,40,000 units were made globally. However, this is the first unit that has appeared in limelight on Indian soil. BBT has also confirmed that it will be conducting fresh online auctions of such classic and vintage cars once every two months.

The Land Rover Series 3 Station Wagon was sold with two different petrol engine options – 2.3-litre four-cylinder petrol and 3.5-litre V8 petrol. Both the engine options were offered with a 4-speed manual gearbox and a four-wheel-drive system with a 2-speed manual transfer case. However, it is not clear whether the unit purchased by Dhoni has 2.3-litre four-cylinder petrol or the 3.5-litre V8 petrol. The exact amount for which the Station Wagon was bought is also undisclosed as of now.

This is not the first time MS Dhoni has got a vintage car for himself. Before this Land Rover Series 3 Station Wagon, the ace cricketer also got a red-coloured Pontiac Firebird Trans AM, a blue-coloured Rolls Royce Silver Wraith II and a green-coloured Nissan Jonga. Dhoni also owns a slew of other expensive modern-era cars like GMC Sierra, Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, Hummer H2, Audi Q7, Ferrari 599 GTO, Mitsubishi Pajero SFX, Land Rover Freelander 2, Mercedes Benz GLE and a Mahindra Scorpio.

The yellow-coloured Land Rover Series 3 Station Wagon bought by MS Dhoni was one of the 19 different vintage cars, which were listed on auction by Big Boy Toyz. The other noteworthy cars present in the auction were Cadillacs, Rolls Royces, Chevrolets, Mercedes Benzs and Austins. These cars were already pre-owned by many people but were put on sale through an auction system at the oldest store of Big Boy Toyz in Gurgaon, Haryana. The auction for all the 19 vehicles was participated by prominent celebrities and businessmen, most of whom were first-time vintage car buyers. The auction ended well with 50 per cent of the stock sold out.

Big Boy Toyz has stated that the next round of auctions will happen in February 2022, which will include the leftover stock and a new set of vintage and classic cars added to the list. The premier luxury used car dealer, which has been dealing in pre-owned luxury and sports cars for a long time now, set up vintage and classic car division in 2021. Through this new division, Big Boy Toyz intends to expand it into a Rs 100 crore vertical in the coming times.
