The Porsche 911 GT3 has been priced at Rs 2.5 crore (ex-showroom, India), which makes it a slot between the 911 Carrera S and 911 Turbo S in the 911 lineup for India.

What’s different visually?

There are many visual differences between the 911 GT3 and standard versions of the 911, which make the former look sportier. The front and rear bumpers of the 911 GTS are different, while there are dual integrated vents in the lower part of the bonnet. The front diffuser of the Porsche 911 GT3 is adjustable for its height.

At the back, the Porsche 911 GT3 has a gigantic rear wing spoiler and a new rear diffuser with centrally-placed dual exhaust ports. On the inside, the Porsche 911 GT3 gets an all-black theme, with Alcantara leather upholstery as standard. While the overall cabin layout of the Porsche 911 GT3 is similar to that of the regular 911, the former gets a revised tachometer and a dedicated track screen function. This unique function offers a separate display for tire pressure, oil temperature, oil pressure, water temperature and fuel tank level in it.

The car gets additional carbon fibre touches on the bonnet, rear wing spoiler and outside rearview mirrors. The windows and exhaust of the 911 GT3 are also lighter.

Changes under the skin

At the heart of the Porsche 911 GT3 is a 4.0-litre flat-six Boxer petrol engine, which has been retained from the GT3 Cup Car. Available with both the options of a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, the engine pumps out a maximum power output of 510 PS and a peak torque output of 470 Nm. These figures are lower than that produced by the 911 Turbo S (maximum power of 650 PS and maximum torque of 800 Nm).

This engine in the 911 GT3 is capable of doing 0-100 kmph in 3.4 seconds and achieving a top speed of 318 kmph. The Porsche 911 GT3 already holds a record of 6 minutes and 59.927 seconds for covering the whole circuit of Nurburgring.

Apart from a different engine setup, the Porsche 911 GT3 also gets the GT3 Cup Car’s suspension of sportier double-wishbone setup and sportier-looking alloy wheels (20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch wheels at the rear).

Competition

Like all the versions of Porsche 911, the GT3 too is brought to India through the CBU route. Given its sporty aura and pricing, the Porsche 911 GT3 takes on cars like Nissan GT-R, Mercedes-AMG GT-R, BMW M4, Jaguar F-Type and Maserati MC20.
