Tata Motors Sales News May 2021 Report

In these tough times of the second layer of COVID-19 in the country, Tata Motors, like all the automobile manufacturers of India witnessed a decline of 40% in its month-on-month sales output.

As compared to April 2021, in which Tata Motors managed to post commendable sales of 25,095 units, the automaker managed to round off the month of May 2021 with 15,181 units. The biggest reason cited for this substantial decline in sales is the partial lockdown implemented in almost all the states of India in May 2021, to curb the rising impact of COVID-19.

However, when it comes to year-on-year sales comparison, Tata Motors scored a staggering growth of 382%. This is mainly due to the fact that as compared to May 2021, the nation witnessed a complete lockdown in the month of May 2020. Even in this month of last year, despite the hurdles, Tata Motors managed to sell 3,152 units across the country.

In addition to the passenger vehicle segment, Tata Motors also performed quite well in the area where it leads in the market – that of commercial vehicles. In this category, Tata Motors witnessed a degrowth of 35% in month-on-month sales and a stupendous growth of 640% in year-on-year sales.

The reasons behind this performance by Tata Motors in the commercial vehicle segment are the same as mentioned above for passenger vehicles. Also, when export volumes of commercial vehicles are taken into consideration, Tata Motors recorded minute degrowth of 8% in month-on-month sales and 814% in year-on-year sales.

Currently, Tata Motors has a wide range of new generation passenger vehicles in its lineup for the Indian market, including compact cars like Tiago, Tigor and Altroz as well as SUVs like Nexon, Harrier and Safari. All of the products from Tata Motors have managed to make a dent in the sales of respective segment leaders, by recording consistent numbers month after month.
