TVS has broken its box of surprise by launching one of its most unconventional motorcycles, the all-new Ronin. Essentially a neo-retro roadster with a hint of scrambler, the new TVS Ronin has arrived in three different variants, with a starting price of Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

2022 TVS Ronin – Variants and Prices

TVS Ronin features

There are three variants in which the new TVS Ronin will be available, with all of them being offered in different paint schemes. The Base variant is priced at Rs 1.49 lakh and is available in two monotone shades of Lightning Black and Magma Red. The second variant in the lineup, Base Plus, is offered in two dual-tone shades of Delta Blue and Stargaze Black and is available at Rs 1.56 lakh. The range-topping variant, which is strangely named Mid, is priced at Rs 1.69 lakh and is offered in two triple-tone paint schemes of Galactic Grey and Dawn Orange.

2022 TVS Ronin – Looks and Features

The TVS Ronin is nothing like all the motorcycles TVS has ever produced in its history. The overall design is a mix of a neo-retro roadster and a scrambler, much like the Ducati Scrambler. The motorcycle has a rounded all-LED headlamp with a T-shaped daytime running LED in the middle and angular LED turn indicators on its side.

The Ronin also has a round-themed fuel tank, trapezoidal side cowls, and rounded rear fender, on which the LED turn indicators and LED tail lamp are mounted. While the front telescopic forks are finished in a theme of gold, the engine and multi-spoke alloy wheels get a theme of black. The motorcycle has an engine cowl and a long exhaust pipe, the latter of which comes with a shield of chrome above it.

The TVS Ronin also features a small and offset round-shaped fully-digital instrument console. This full-LCD unit displays a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meters and gear indicator. The console also supports TVS’ Smart Xonnect Bluetooth system, through which one can attend call, message and turn-by-turn navigation and operate voice commands. The dual-channel ABS of the TVS Ronin gets two modes – Urban and Rain.

2022 TVS Ronin – Engine and Transmission

For the Ronin, TVS has developed an all-new engine from scratch. This four-stroke, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, 225.9cc engine pumps put 20.5 PS @ 7,750 rpm of maximum power and 19.93 Nm @ 3,750 rpm of maximum torque output. Paired to a 5-speed gearbox, this engine features an integrated starter generator and assist and slipper clutch.

2022 TVS Ronin – Other Mechanicals

The TVS Ronin gets premium mechanical hardware, comprising 41mm upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks from Showa at the front, a gas-charged mono-shock at the rear and single disc brakes at both ends. Riding on 17-inch alloy wheels, the TVS Ronin gets 110/70-18 front and 130/70-17 rear off-road tyres. While the Base and Base Plus variants feature single-channel ABS, only the Mid variant gets dual-channel ABS with two modes.

2022 TVS Ronin – Competition

The TVS Ronin enters a very niche space, where it has been positioned as a one-of-its-kind motorcycle with no direct competition. However, in terms of pricing, the Ronin will compete with motorcycles like Yamaha MT-15, Bajaj Dominar 250 and even Honda CB350 RS.
