2022 Jeep Compass Trailhawk price in india

Jeep has expanded the lineup of Compass SUVs today in India by bringing in its new range-topping, off-road focused variant, the Trailhawk. With this, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk marks its re-entry in India after two long years, since the pre-facelift model was pulled out of India in the wake of BS6 emission norms.

Variants and Pricing

Available in a single variant, the new Jeep Compass Trailhawk is priced at an introductory price point of Rs 30.72 lakh. At this price point, it is around Rs 1.38 lakh more expensive than the current top-spec S variant of the regular Compass, which is priced at Rs 29.34 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, India).

Exterior changes

Compared to the BS4 model, the new BS6 Jeep Compass Trailhawk gets a slew of cosmetic changes on the outside. The most prominent change is at the front, where the Compass Trailhawk gets a new bumper with a sloped-off design at the bottom for enhanced approach and departure angles. Even the fog lamp housings on the front bumper are new. Like before, there is a blacked-out decal on the hood, which now gets a contrast red-coloured stripe bearing the Trailhawk lettering.

Coming to the side, the new Jeep Compass Trailhawk gets smaller 17-inch machined alloy wheels, compared to 18-inch units on the S variant. These 17-inch alloy wheels have a different design and come wrapped with 225/65 R17 all-season tyres with bigger sidewalls. In addition, the iconic trail-rated 4×4 badge on the front fender. At the back, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk gets a Trailhawk badge, red-coloured towing hook and different skid plate. With a ground clearance of 205mm, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk sits 20mm higher than the regular versions of the Compass.

Interior changes

The cabin of the Jeep Compass Trailhawk is based on the top-spec S variant in terms of layout and equipment levels. However, there are a few special bits that make it a more exclusive place to be in. The seats, dashboard, steering wheel and door panels get contrast red stitching, while the seats are embossed with Trailhawk logos.

The new Jeep Compass Trailhawk shares its equipment list with the S variant of the Compass, which includes a powered driver’s seat, panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch full-TFT instrument console, floating 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, 360-degree camera display and leather upholstery.

Engine and Transmission

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is available as a diesel-only model, which shares its 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine with the standard Compass. The engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of 170 bhp and a maximum torque output of 350 Nm and is paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox and a four-wheel-drive system as standard.

Other mechanical changes

Apart from an increased ground clearance, the new Jeep Compass Trailhawk also gets a better approach angle of 30 degrees (16.8 degrees on regular Compass), a better ramp break-over angle of 24 degrees (22.9 degrees on regular Compass) and a better departure angle of 34 degrees (31.7 degrees on regular Compass). The Jeep Compass Trailhawk also comes equipped with an additional ‘Rock’ drive mode for better traction on rocky terrains and raised suspension which allows for a water wading capacity of 483mm.

Competition

Currently, there is no other hardcore SUV that offers off-road prowess like that of Jeep Compass Trailhawk. However, spend a bit more, and you get options like Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Isuzu MU-X.
