2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno: Sigma vs Delta vs Zeta vs Alpha

Maruti Suzuki is trying to ease the heat and maintain its leadership in the premium hatchback category with the all-new second-generation Baleno. The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno retains its four-variant lineup, all of which have been rejigged with features.

All these variants now come with a 1.2-litre K12N Dualjet petrol engine as standard, which produces 90 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. While a 5-speed manual gearbox is the standard transmission, there is a new 5-speed AMT in place of CVT and is available from the Delta variant onwards. The complete details of all the four variants of the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno are as follows:

Maruti Suzuki Baleno Sigma

Price – Rs 6.35 lakh (manual)

Like before, the Sigma variant happens to be the base-spec variant of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. In terms of features, it has got a boost over the erstwhile-available Baleno Sigma, with newer features like halogen projector headlamps, rear defogger, comprehensive instrument console with tachometer and MID, automatic climate control, all-four power windows and tilt-adjustable steering wheel.

However, if you look closer, the new Sigma variant looks slightly pared down, as it now comes with blacked-out door handles and rearview mirrors and body-coloured A and B pillars. The list of safety and security features, which are offered as standard in the Baleno right from Sigma variant are dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, remote central locking and reverse parking sensors.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno Delta

Price – Rs 7.19 lakh (manual), Rs 7.69 lakh (AMT)

The Delta variant of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is perfect for those who want to have all the basic grounds covered. It looks better than the Sigma variant on the outside with the presence of body-coloured door handles and rearview mirrors, plastic caps for 15-inch wheels, black tape finish for the A and B pillars, chrome highlight for the front grille and turn indicators mounted on the rearview mirrors.

On the inside too, it is a better-equipped variant with features like a 7-inch Smartplay Studio infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple Carplay, four speakers for the audio system, electrically adjustable and foldable rearview mirrors, multi-functional steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls and a rear parcel tray. In addition, the AMT variants also get hill hold assist and an electronic stability program.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno Zeta

Prices – Rs 8.09 lakh (manual), Rs 8.59 lakh (AMT)

In our opinion, the Zeta variant is the most sensibly-equipped variant one can opt for in the new Baleno. This variant gets additional features like LED projector headlamps with auto on-off and follow-me-home functions, chrome door handles and window beltline, 16-inch grey alloy wheels and rear wiper.

The interior too is spruced with additional features like side and curtain airbags, Smartplay Pro software for the 7-inch infotainment system with reverse camera, two tweeters, Amazon Alexa compatibility, in-built Suzuki Connect with additional features, driver seat height adjustment, rear AC vents, telescopic adjustment for the steering wheel and push start-stop button. There are additional nifty features like sliding front armrest, height adjustable headrests for rear seats, 60:40 split rear seats, TFT MID for instrument console and front footwell lamps.

Maruti Suzuki Baleno Alpha

Price – Rs 8.99 lakh (manual), Rs 9.49 lakh (AMT)

This is the top-spec variant of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, which gets segment-first features like a head-up display and 360-degree parking camera. It also gets LED fog lamps, daytime running LEDs, 16-inch machined alloy wheels, a bigger and more comprehensive 9-inch Smartplay Pro+ infotainment system, leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, Arkamys sound system, UV-cut glasses and auto-foldable rearview mirrors.
