New 2022 BMW 2 Series Unveiled

The new BMW 2 Series has been unveiled with a slew of extensive changes to its visual appeal in and out. The new 2022 BMW 2 Series will be offered in two different versions – the BMW 230i with rear wheel drive and BMW M240i xDrive with all-wheel drive, both of which will be two-door coupes.

2022 BMW 2 Series: Exterior

BMW has extensively tweaked the exterior design of the 2 Series. There is a wider turbine-themed double kidney grille with vertical air flaps, which comes with chrome surrounds in 230i and cerium grey touches in M240i. The car also features revised headlamps and tail lamps with curved layouts and full LED arrangement.

The new BMW 2 Series has a long hood and short overhangs and trunk lid, with a sharply curved roof line giving it a traditional silhouette of a coupe. While the 230i sits on 18-inch wheels, the M240i comes equipped with bigger 19-inch M-Sport wheels. The M240i also has a different sportier design for the front and rear bumpers, with both of them getting blacked out lip spoilers.

2022 BMW 2 Series: Interior

The interiors of the BMW 2 Series too have been heavily revised, with it featuring a 5.1-inch MID in the instrument console and a new 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, the latter of which features Apple Carplay, Android Auto, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, real time traffic information and navigation and remote software upgrades.

BMW is also offering an optional live cockpit professional upgrade, which will bring in a bigger 12.3-inch full TFT instrument console and slightly larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other key features of the BMW 2 series include sport seats and steering wheel as well as BMW digital key.

2022 BMW 2 Series: Engines and Transmissions

BMW 2 Series 2022 Engine Specs

Both the versions of the all new BMW 2 series come with different set of engines. The BMW 230i packs in a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which makes 255 hp of power and 400 Nm of torque. The 0-100 kmph sprint takes place in 5.5 seconds. On the other hand, the more powerful M240i has a bigger 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline six engine, which produces 382 hp of power and 500 Nm of torque. This engine can cover 0 to 100 kmph in 4.1 seconds. Both the versions of the 2 series get an 8-speed Sport Steptronic automatic gearbox as standard.

2022 BMW 2 Series: Chassis

The new BMW 2 series is a bigger car than the erstwhile version of it, as it is 4.3 inches longer and 2.6 inches wider, with an increase of 2 inches in its wheelbase as well. The new version sits 1 inch lower as well.

2022 BMW 2 Series: Will it come to India?

Currently, BMW has the more powerful M2 as well as four door version of the 2 Series, the Gran coupe, on sale in the Indian car market. Chances are that out of these two, the more powerful M240i might make its way to India.
