After a long hiatus, the Force Gurkha is all set to make a comeback with revised changes in and out and extensive changes to mechanicals under the skin. Force Motors has lifted off the covers from the all new Gurkha SUV, which draws the design language of the model previewed back at the Auto Expo 2020. The new Force Gurkha will officially go on sale on September 27, 2021, with the deliveries proposed to start from October 15, 2021.
2021 Force Gurkha: Exterior
The new Force Gurkha has a completely revamped exterior design, but it continues to retain the boxy design and upright stance of its predecessor. Every panel on the new Force Gurkha is all new, including the front grille with bold ‘Gurkha’ lettering, front and rear bumpers, new rounded fog lamps, rounded LED headlamps with jewel-themed circular daytime running LED and new vertical tail lamps.
Currently, the Force Gurkha will be sold only as a three-door SUV. With this, the new Gurkha now comes with much bigger rear windscreen and longer rear windows, the latter of which are fixed and are called ‘panoramic windows’ by Force Motors. The rear fenders of the SUV do get the unique 4x4x4 badging, which was introduced by the previous model of the SUV. Also standard on the SUV will be a black colored snorkel just above the right front fender.
2021 Force Gurkha: Interior
The new Force Gurkha gets a completely revamped interior when compared to the previous generation model. As compared to the dual tone cabin of the show car at the Auto Expo 2020, the production model will be having an all grey themed cabin. The rear flat bench of the previous model has now been replaced by two front facing captain seats.
The dashboard is all new too, with the Gurkha getting a touchscreen infotainment system, three-spoke steering wheel, manual controls for AC and closed glove box.
2021 Force Gurkha: Features
Gone is the bare-bones cabin of the erstwhile Force Gurkha, and in comes a much modern vehicle, if not as modern as other SUVs in its supposed price range. The new Gurkha now comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, tilt and telescopic adjustment for steering wheel, manual AC, individual armrests for rear seats, USB charging seats for all individual seats and front power windows. The new Force Gurkha is complete with safety essentials like dual front airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.
2021 Force Gurkha: Engine and Transmission
The new Force Gurkha ditches the BS4 compliant 2.2-litre diesel engine of the previous model for a new Mercedes Benz sourced BS6 compliant 2.6-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. Available with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, the new engine makes 91 bhp of maximum power output and 250 Nm of maximum torque output. The new Gurkha will come with four-wheel drive as standard, which features low range and manual locking for front and rear differentials. The new Force Gurkha can be driven with slopes of up to 35 degrees and has a water wading capacity of 700mm.
2021 Force Gurkha: Price and Rivals
The pricing of the Force Gurkha will be announced on September 27, 2021, which is expected to be in the ballpark of the diesel-manual variants of its nearest rival, the Mahindra Thar.
