Tata Gravitas 7-Seater SUV Unveiled
In line with a slew of unveils and launches at Auto Expo, Tata Motors has now unleashed the much-awaited Tata Gravitas SUV. The 7-seater SUV – more seen as the extended version of the Harrier – is longer and taller than its 5-seater sibling. The 3-row seat layout SUV will get BS VI obeying 2.0L diesel powertrain with manual and automatic transmissions on offer.

The Gravitas sees freshness with a new side profile and more modern tail lamp cluster at the rear. In its segment, it will compete with Mahindra XUV500 and the upcoming 6-seater MG Hector (showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo).

Engine & Specs

The 7-seater Tata SUV is powered by the same 2.0L turbocharged Kryotec diesel motor, which is seen on the BS-6 2020 Tata Harrier. The emission compliant engine churns out a maximum power of 170bhp together with 350Nm of peak torque. The engine is coupled to a choice of a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Dimensions & Looks

Derived from the Harrier, the Gravitas is longer by 63mm (length 4661mm) and taller by 80mm (height 1786mm), while the wheelbase and width stand identical at 2741mm and 1894mm respectively.

In terms of looks, from the front one cannot distinguish between the Harrier and Gravitas. However, the 7-seater sibling draws change from B-pillar onwards and is continued till the rear with larger rear overhang and new tail lamp set. Tailgate sees no change while a distinctive set of diamond cut alloy wheels separates the two, Harrier and Gravitas.

Features

The spacious cabin features somewhat similar settings as in the Harrier. It comes with an 8.8-inch touchscreen, a 6-way powered driver seat, automatic climate control, 9-speaker sound system, and leather seats. However, the major update arrives in the form of dedicated AC vents with blower controls for the third row. Captain seats with sliding feature for the second row, connected tech for remote engine start-stop, climate control, e-parking brake, along with free-floating infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android connectivity, come as the highlights of the interior feature-list.
