Benelli has lifted the curtains off from the all-new Leoncino Sport. Essentially a café racer version of the standard Leoncino 500 roadster available in the Indian market, the Benelli Leoncino 500 Sport has been launched in China as of now.
The Benelli Leoncino 500 Sport boasts of a number of cosmetic alterations over the standard Leoncino 500, which already comes with a cool-looking neo-retro design theme. For starters, the Benelli Leoncino 500 Sport has got the same rounded headlamp as the standard version, but here, it is surrounded by a curvaceous cowl, making the face look bigger and more purposeful.
Another couple of changes executed in the Benelli Leoncino 500 Sport over the standard Leoncino 500 are clip-on handlebars in place of a single-piece unit and a single-sided double-barrel exhaust setup over the single exhaust pipe. Also, to make it feel more inclined towards the retro flavor, Benelli has replaced the alloy wheels for a cooler-looking set of spoke wheels. And finally, Benelli has added a small bag that is mounted to the right-hand side rear body panel, which can carry small knick-knacks while on the go.
Apart from these aforementioned changes, the rest of the design of the Benelli Leoncino 500 Sport is the same as that of the standard Leoncino 500. Both of them share the fuel tank, other body panels, switchgear, rear view mirrors and the two-stage fully digital instrument console with blue backlit.
Benelli has armed the Leoncino 500 Sport with the same four-stroke, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 500cc engine which powers the standard Leoncino 500. Coupled to a 6-speed gearbox, this engine pumps 47.5 PS of maximum power and 47 Nm of maximum torque. The suspension combination of inverted hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and monoshock at the rear, 320mm dual discs at the front and 260mm single disc at the rear for braking and 120/70-17 front and 160/60-17 rear tyres too have been lifted off from the standard Leoncino 500.
Benelli already retails the standard Leoncino 500 at a price of Rs. 4.59 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). However, there is no confirmation regarding the Benelli Leoncino 500 Sport to arrive anytime soon in the Indian two-wheeler market.
