BMW India has expanded its lineup of sports-oriented offerings under its performance division of M cars by launching the all-new M4 Competition Coupe. Launched as a CBU, the new BMW M4 Competition Coupe is available in a single variant, which has been priced at Rs 1.43 Crore (Ex-showroom, India).

Exterior

The new BMW M4 Competition Coupe looks sportier than the erstwhile model, thanks to a substantially revised front profile. The BMW M4 Competition Coupe gets sleeker adaptive LED headlamps which come with laser light function as standard. The huge and new-generation dual kidney grille with horizontal slats marks its debut on the car. For added sportiness, the BMW M4 Competition Coupe comes with front and rear aprons, gloss-black M-specific rearview mirrors, aerodynamic fins and rear spoiler and quad exhaust pipes finished in dark chrome.

The standard colour options available for the BMW M4 Competition Coupe are Portimao Blue, Sao Paulo Yellow, Skyscraper Grey, Black Sapphire, Alpine Red and Tornado Red. For an optional premium, one can opt for one of the more exclusive paint shades like Frozen Portimao Blue, Dravit Grey, Tanzanite Blue, Frozen Brilliant White, Aventurine Red, Frozen Orange, Frozen Deep Grey and Frozen Black.

Sharing its cabin layout with the M3 saloon, the BMW M4 Competition Coupe offers M leather ‘Merino’ with four choices of combinations – Kyatami Orange, Black, Silverstone and Yas Marina Blue. The cabin gets premium and sporty features like electrically adjustable M sport seats with lumbar support and heating function, carbon fibre inserts, M seat belts, automatic anti-dazzle function for all windows.

The cabin also gets a 12.3-inch full-TFT instrument console running on BMW Operating System 7.0, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, three-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, 16-speaker Harman Kardon music system and head-up display. The car also gets a sunroof which is claimed to get a high-tech carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) treatment.

Engine and Mechanicals

2022 BMW M4 Competition Coupe transmission

The BMW M4 Competition Coupe shares its 3.0-litre inline-six turbocharged petrol engine with the latest M TwinPower turbo technology with the globally-available M3 saloon. Available solely with an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, this engine produces a maximum power output of 510 bhp and a peak torque output of 620 Nm.

The BMW M4 Competition Coupe gets 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged alloy wheels as standard, which are black and get a bespoke double-spoke design. It is also equipped with other sporty tech add-ons like adaptive M suspension, M Sport differential and M Compound brakes.

For an additional premium, customers can opt for sprucing the BMW M4 Competition Coupe with bits like M Racetrack package, M carbon exterior package, active seat ventilation, M Drive professional, M Compound brakes with red callipers and different 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloy wheels in a theme of Orbit Grey and Bicolor Black.

Technology

The BMW M4 Competition Coupe is packed with ace technologies like park distance control with front and rear sensors, park assistant and wireless charging for smartphones. You can pay more to avail of optional extras like parking assistant plus, driving assistant, comfort access system, steering and lane control assistant, gesture control for the infotainment system and BMW drive recorder.

The car is laden with more premium safety features like head airbags for front and rear seats, dynamic stability control, M Dynamic Mode, cornering brake control, dynamic brake control, dry braking function, active M differential and DSC with M xDrive (all-wheel-drive setup).
