Overview

Datsun RediGO

Datsun RediGO can be described as a badge-engineered Renault Kwid. Its design is what distinguishes it from the French hatchback. Instead of the muscular, SUV-esque design sported by Kwid, RediGo gets a more angular, tallboy design. The following review will look at the similarities and differences between the two hatchbacks and we will explore how it fairs as a standalone entry-level hatch.

Pricelist

Even though Kwid was quite aggressively priced, to begin with, RediGO’s base model comes with a cheaper price tag. The prices for RediGO’s base ‘D’ variant start at Rs. 2.49 Lakh. There is a total of ten variants on offer and an option of an automated manual transmission like the one found in Kwid is also available.

Variants Price (ex-showroom)
D Rs. 2.49 Lakh
A Rs. 3.04 Lakh
T Rs. 3.3 Lakh
T OPTION Rs. 3.39 Lakh
S Rs. 3.64 Lakh
1.0 T OPTION Rs. 3.63 Lakh
1.0 S Rs. 3.78 Lakh
GOLD S Rs. 3.75 Lakh
AMT 1.0 T OPTION Rs. 3.81 Lakh
AMT 1.0S Rs. 3.96 Lakh

Exterior

Datsun RediGO features a tallboy design, which translates into more cabin space. At the front, we get the large hexagonal grille, LED DRLs encased in smoked swept back headlamps and integrated skid plate. The small car rides on 13-inch wheels.

Dimension

RediGo is one the tallest offerings in its segment, it also has the highest ground clearance which will translate into a more comfortable ride. As compared to Kwid, RediGo gets 5mm of extra suspension travel. RediGo also has a shorter wheelbase as compared to its French sibling. This means nippier handling and a shorter turning radius. Lastly, 300 litres of cargo capacity is the best in class.

Dimensions Model name
Length 3429mm
Width 1560mm
Height 1541mm
Wheelbase 2348mm
Ground clearance 185mm
Boot space 300 litres

Engine and Transmission

Datsun RediGO is offered with the same powertrain as the one found in Renault Kwid. The car also share same gearbox options, both manual and AMT. The powertrain produces a peak power output of 53.3bhp and 72Nm of torque. What the Japanese hatch does not share with Kwid is its power-to-weight ratio.
