Honda Activa 5G Review, Price, Specifications, Pros & Cons

Japanese auto manufacturer, Honda has launched the next generation of the highest selling scooter in India – The Honda Activa 5G. The new scooter comes with a price tag of Rs. 52,460 (ex-showroom). Activa 5G now features minor design changes. These include a new headlamp design, chrome accents, new dash, refreshed tail section and a side panel which no longer features a key-hole that opens the seat lock. In the following review, we will reveal what is new about this offering.

Price

The prices for the base (STD) model of Honda Activa 5G starts at Rs. 52,460 (ex-showroom). There is also a DLX, top-of-the-line model on offer which is priced at Rs. 54,325 (ex-showroom).

Features

Honda Activa 5G now gets LED headlamps which come with integrated DRLs. The top-end model is offered with a digital analogue meter and a 3D emblem. The new scooter also gets an ECO mode, service reminder, double hook to carry extra bags on the floor board and a dual function key. The key can now be used for ignition as well as to access the storage under the driver’s seat. Also offered is a cellphone charging dock option which is found in the storage bay.

Engine and Specifications

In terms of the powertrain, not much has changed. Activa 5G carries forward the same 110cc powertrain which was earlier found in its predecessor. The single cylinder engine produces a peak power output of 8bhp and 9Nm of torque. The top speed of Honda Activa 4G is 83kmph and the power is sent to the rear wheel via the same CVT gearbox as Activa 4G.

Braking and Handling

Both STD and DLX variants are only offered with dual drum brake setups, in front as well as rear wheels. Honda Activa 5G also continues to incorporate the company’s combined braking system or CBS as a safety feature.

Activa 5G rides on 10-inch alloy wheels which are wrapped in 90/100 tubeless tyres both at the front the rear wheels. The suspension duties are undertaken by a Spring Loaded Hydraulic setup.

There are a total of 8 colour schemes on offer for the new Activa 4G – Trance Blue Metallic, Pearl Spartan red, Pearl Amazing white, Matt Selene silver, Dazzling Yellow, Matt Axis Grey, Majestic Brown Metallic and Black.

Competition

Honda Activa 5G will rival the likes of TVS Jupiter which also happens to be the second highest selling scooter in the country. Other competitors include the likes of Yamaha Fascino and Hero Meastro edge, amongst others.
