Hyundai Grand i10 Overview

Hyundai, India’s second-largest automaker brought in a revolution with its small car offering, Santro. Ever since the Korean automaker has been renowned for introducing state-of-the-art features in its cars for the masses. A perfect example of the same is the Hyundai Grand i10. In classic Hyundai tradition, the car is available in several variants and the buyer has his pick of the litter. Price list

The saving grace of the Hyundai Grand i10 is not it’s competitive pricing but the fact that the car comes in several feature-laden variants which are available in wide cost structure. The car also comes with one of the most refined diesel engines in its segment, which is offered at a very reasonable price. However, the lack of an automatic transmission option for the diesel variants does hamper the appeal of the car.

Exterior

Hyundai is renowned for its fluidic design and in several convenience sampling studies it was reviled that the consumers find Grand i10’s styling to be reminiscent to that of the Elite i20 and feel that it bestows the car with a much more premium car feel. The designers have also very meticulously incorporated substantial greenhouse without making the final design seem out of shape which gives the car great visibility.

Dimensions

In terms of dimensions, one place where the Grand i10 manages to impress us is in terms of its boot space. At 256 litres it manages to easily compete with its arch-rival the all new Maruti Ignis.

Interior

Starting off with the interiors, the grad i10 manages to disappoint us with its skinny seats which are not very comfortable, especially for your lower back support but to its rescue, we have a host of features. In its segment, Hyundai i10 is one of the few cars that is offered with rear A/c vents and has a build quality that can rival the best of Japanese and German makes. The dual-tone interior gives the car a spacious feel.

Engine and transmission

The ergonomics of the car are very impressive which make Grand i10, especially with its more powerful diesel engine is a worthy contender for the title of the ideal city commuter. In terms of the engine performance, the 1.2 L petrol mill in Grand i10 is satisfactory, when it comes to meeting your daily driving needs, but the diesel motor feels a tad underpowered when compared to its modern rivals. The 4-speed Automatic transmission is also a letdown when compared to the 5-speed AMT offerings in the segment.

Fuel economy

Features

Most of the other features on the Hyundai Grand i10 are the same as the ones you would find in any other car in its segment, expect the fact that Grand i10 comes with a chilled glove box and a music system with 1 GB of internal storage. The car also comes with a 7-inch infotainment system and substantial greenhouse, which lights up the cabin and bestows excellent visibility. Hyundai Grand i10 also comes with automatic climate control and reverse parking camera in addition to the reverse parking sensors.

Safety

Hyundai Grand i10 did not fare well in the Latin NCAP testing. In India however, Hyundai Grand i10 is offered with dual-front airbags and Anti-lock Braking System. Occupants also get the option of a variant with rear parking sensors. The car is also offered with central locking and an engine Immobilizer.
