The under-4m SUV segment gets ready to see a rush of newcomers.

Kia Sonet & Toyota Urban Cruiser Key Lanch Details

The subcompact SUV space in India is fast getting populated with new entrants. The latest ones to add to the flurry of sub-4m sports utility vehicles are the Kia Sonet and the Toyota Urban Cruiser. The pre-bookings of the Kia Sonet have already garnered a whopping 6500+ takers. It can be booked at an upfront payment of Rs 25,000. Both the Sonet and Urban Cruiser are scheduled to launch in India by next month in September 2020.

The Sonet uses the same chassis as its sister concern Hyundai’s Venue. However, it will be coming up with additional features and slightly different driving dynamics compared to the Venue SUV.

It is likely to share engines with its cousin; however, it will feature an all-together different kind of styling than the Hyundai car. As per the leaked brochure, the Sonet will feature 6 variants – HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and GTX+.

Kia Sonet price is likely to be on par with its rivals and should start at Rs 7 lakh.

Toyota Urban Cruiser – Key Launch Details

Toyota Urban Cruiser

The Toyota Urban Cruiser is essentially the second product to come out of the Suzuki and Toyota alliance after the Baleno-Glanza stint. A rebadged Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the Urban Cruiser is likely to give a slightly different feel when it comes to drivability. Toyota has tinkered the design of the Brezza to make it appear as a more premium product.

The bookings of the Toyota subcompact SUV are also underway at an advance payment of Rs 11,000. It will feature similar features and engine options of the Vitara Brezza. It will be getting six monotone and three dual-tone shades.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser is likely to be priced similar to the Maruti Vitara Brezza, which is tagged in the range of Rs 7.34 lakh – Rs 11.40 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Once the Kia Sonet and Toyota Urban Cruiser are released, the consumers will be spoiled for choices for sure. Besides the two, the sub-4m segment comprises of Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue. You also have the upcoming Nissan Magnite which is slated to launch by the end of this year or early 2021.
