New Hyundai Kona Teased Ahead of Launch

Preview images of Kona SUV witness heavy updates to the front, while a more powerful N-Line variant is also teased.

Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) has teased the upgraded version of the global Kona and Kona N-Line trim. The Hyundai Kona is basically a compact SUV which sits above the Hyundai Venue in the South Korean carmaker’s global portfolio. It features ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ global design ideology of the leading carmaker. In India, the nameplate Kona was introduced in an electric version named Hyundai Kona Electric.

The company has showcased a glimpse of its front-end design, while the unveiling is about to happen soon. The sharp styling consists of shark-like conceiving with fin-shaped vents and the LED headlights that echo shark’s gills. Meanwhile, the Kona’s N-Line trim receives a more stylish and sportier bumper line at the front and wide grille. In India, the Kona Electric is anticipated to receive similar styling revisions by next year.

The new Kona front seems derived from the sharks and feature sharp design and curvy line. The design of the split-headlamp and bumper-mounted LED headlamps seems inspired from shark’s gills. The LED daytime running lights that are bolder now look more sporty and daunting than before. The fin-like bumper design provides with the feel of the DRLs seen on the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. In a nutshell, looking at the mesmerizing front a sportscar-like wide stance is expected from the new Kona. Coming to the next teaser of the new N-Line variant, it boasts of sportier front end featuring wider grille and low-profile air vents.

We can expect an upgrade based on similar lines to the Kona Electric in India. The suave yet aggressive design philosophy has a visible difference from the other compact SUVs in Hyundai’s portfolio. According to the company the new Kona will be completely unwrapped in the coming weeks.
