MG Hector Anniversary Edition

MG Motor India is enjoying stupendous success in the country with its leading SUV model, the MG Hector. The flagship SUV completed its inaugural year prolifically in June 2020. And to commemorate its accomplishment the SAIC Motor subsidiary has slipped in the ‘Anniversary Edition’ of its Hector SUV. The special edition boasts four additional attributes to the feature list, which includes 10.3” HD touch display, air purifier, wireless mobile charging and Medklinn Kit for cabin sterilization. The petrol and diesel variants of the Anniversary Edition are tagged at Rs 13.63 Lakh (ex-showroom) and 14.99 Lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.

Based on the manual transmission driven Super (lower mid variant) trims, the best part of the special edition is it doesn’t involve any price hike. And the customer can enjoy the extended feature-list at no extra cost, making it a lucrative buy. Another noteworthy aspect is that the specified four accessories (10.3” touchscreen, air purifier, wireless mobile charging and Medklinn Kit) are not even offered as standard equipment on the top-of-the-line Hector trims – Smart and Sharp. However, are available on the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos high-end variants.

Taking care of in-cabin sanitization in the new-normal MG has partnered with Singapore-based firm Medklinn, known for making the best air purification and sterilization system for car interiors. The technology claims to get rid of the bacteria and viruses through ‘active oxygen’. Further, the feature list receives no change and LED DRL headlights, cruise control, alloy wheels, dual airbags, ABS and ESP, traction control, rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, etc. continue to serve the MG Hector as earlier.

During its launch a year ago, the automaker under its MG Shield programme had announced an attractive buyback scheme. Under this assured buyback option, after three years (if the consumer wishes) the company will purchase the Hector at 60% value of the original ex-showroom price. And the same scheme is now extended to the Anniversary Edition model. Moreover, on the finance front, the Hector SUV now sees a zero down-payment plan with and EMI reading Rs 22,222.

Pitted against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks and Tata Harrier, MG Hector special Anniversary Edition gets unchanged mechanicals for its petrol (1.5L, 143hp) and diesel (2.0L, 170hp) powertrains. Besides the regular Hector, MG Motors in its India-portfolio presently offers 6-seater MG Hector Plus and MG ZS EV (electric). Riding high on the success, the carmaker is all set for the launch of full-size SUV MG Gloster around the festive season this year.
