After a month of its global unveiling, the limited-edition Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition has arrived on the Indian shores. This new limited edition car comes with a host of cosmetic changes and feature additions over the regular variants on which they are based.
Price and Variants
In India, the regular Porsche Panamera is already available in four variants – Standard, GTS, Turbo S and Turbo S E-Hybrid. However, the Platinum Edition is available in India for only the Standard and Turbo S E-Hybrid variants, the prices for which start at Rs 1.71 Crore. This makes it almost Rs 17 lakh more expensive than the regular Standard variant, which is priced at Rs 1.55 Crore (all prices ex-showroom, India).
What’s new on the outside
As said above, the new Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition comes with several add-ons in terms of garnishing bits and features. On the outside, the limited edition variant comes finished in a Platinum colour theme with 21-inch alloy wheels and black-coloured sporty looking tailpipes. It also gets a satin finish for the Porsche logo and model badges at the rear and air outlet trims on the rear edges of the front fenders. The top-spec Turbo S E-Hybrid variant also gets a special e-hybrid logon on the door panels below the rearview mirrors.
What’s new on the inside
The garnishing bits are well present on the inside of the Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition as well. The overall interior is finished in exclusive black leather upholstery with a contrasting brushed aluminium finish. In addition, the car also comes with door sill guards made of brushed aluminium, which sport Platinum Edition logos.
There is a host of features that have been made standard in the Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition. On the outside, it gets matrix LED headlamps with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) Plus and outside rearview mirrors with automatic dimming, while the cabin gets 14-way electrically adjustable front seats, 14-speaker sound system from BOSE, panoramic roof and analogue clock on the dashboard. The car also gets air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and park assist with reversing camera as parts of the standard equipment list. In addition to all of these, the Turbo S E-Hybrid variant also gets a 7.2 kW AC charger as standard.
The Platinum Edition has been made available in two variants. The base-spec Standard variant is powered by a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine which makes 326 bhp of power and 450 Nm of torque. The range-topping Turbo S E-Hybrid variant gets a more powerful 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 100 kW electric motor, the combined power and torque outputs of which are rated at 690 bhp of power and 870 Nm of torque. Both the variants get an 8-speed dual-clutch PDK automatic gearbox as a standard transmission option.
