Volkswagen Tiguan facelift price in india

Volkswagen has reintroduced the Tiguan midsize SUV in the Indian market in a new facelifted avatar. Compared to the previously available BS4-spec diesel-powered version, the new Volkswagen Tiguan has been launched as a BS6 petrol-only SUV, which is now locally assembled in Volkswagen’s manufacturing facility in Aurangabad. The official deliveries of the SUV are set to commence from mid-January 2022, however, the SUV is already open for bookings both online and offline.

Pricing and Variants

The new Volkswagen Tiguan has been launched in a single Elegance variant, which is priced at Rs 31.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). With the new pricing, it is Rs 2.21 lakh more affordable than the seven-seater Tiguan AllSpace, which has been discontinued to make way for this new SUV.

Exterior

The new facelifted Tiguan gets a few cosmetic tweaks on the outside, as compared to the BS4 model sold earlier. There are new sharper looking headlamps, which get LED Matrix lights with daytime running LEDs. The front grille and bumper have been tweaked as well, with gloss black highlights on the corners of the front bumper. The only change to the side profile is the new design for the 18-inch grey alloy wheels, while at the rear, there are new LED inserts in tail lamps, a revised rear bumper and new wide ‘Tiguan’ lettering in the middle of the boot lid. The new Tiguan has seven colour options on offer, which are Oryx White, Deep Black, Reflex Silver, Dolphin Grey, Nightshade Blue, Kings Red and Pure White.

Interior and Features

On the inside, nothing much has changed in the Tiguan, with a couple of new features added to its already extensive list of equipment. The all-black cabin of the Tiguan now gets a 10-inch TFT instrument console, a new three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel and a touch-controlled panel for the three-zone automatic climate control in the lower centre console. Other features which grace the cabin of the Tiguan are an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay, Android Auto and connected car tech, 8-way powered driver’s seat, panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, ambient lighting, push start-stop button and more.

For safety, the Tiguan is equipped with front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, front and rear parking sensors and reverse camera.

Engine and Transmission

The new Volkswagen Tiguan is now powered with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which has been retained from the now-defunct Tiguan AllSpace. The engine is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and produces a maximum power output of 190 bhp and a maximum torque output of 320 Nm. Like before, the new Tiguan comes with Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system as standard.

Competition

With a price of Rs 31.99 lakh, the new Tiguan sits above the top-spec petrol-automatic variants of both of its direct rivals, the Hyundai Tucson (Rs 24.37 lakh) and Jeep Compass (Rs 26.34 lakh). The new Tiguan will also compete with the Citroen C5 Aircross (Rs 31.30-32.80 lakh), which is offered only with a diesel-automatic powertrain.
