Renault Duster Review

Renault Duster facelift is already in place, however, to make most of the Auto Expo 2020, Renault has unveiled the new 1.3L Turbo Petrol powertrain. The new engine will be replacing the 1.5-litre diesel motor in the Duster line-up. For the Indian market, turbo petrol is expected to generate 156PS and 250 Nm of power and torque values. As per French carmaker, the 1.3L TCe 130 is one of two new turbo-petrol engines that it has planned for India.

Besides adding it to the Duster, Renault is soon expected to offer the latest turbo-petrol engine in the Renault Captur line-up too. Also, chances are bright that it will be shared with alliance partner Nissan’s Kick SUV. The 1.3L turbo-petrol engine was first introduced in the French carmaker’s global portfolio in 2018. Dubbed as the 1.3L TCe 130 for the Indian market, the direct-injection petrol engine will launch in April 2020 when Renault will announce the prices of the BS6 Duster.

The international powertain was co-developed by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance and Daimler. Offered worldwide in multiple states of power tunes – 115PS / 220Nm, 140PS / 240Nm and 160PS / 270Nm, it is coupled to a standard 6-speed manual transmission and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic choice.

Furthermore, at the time of launch Duster will see more features being added to its top of the line trim RXZ. And this comprises of an 8-inch infotainment screen, engine start-stop, cabin pre-cooling function via remote, along with automatic climate control, cruise control, and 17-inch stylish alloys. Safety equipment list will get dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill-start assist, reverse parking camera, to name some. Coming to the price, sources suggest that the Duster 1.3 turbo-petrol will either be at par with the pricing of the 1.5 petrol or more.
