Expected to launch next year, the Kwid K-ZE is based on the next-gen Kwid in 2019.

Renault Kwid Electric (K-ZE)

The French automaker unwrapped the Renault Kwid Electric aka Renault K-ZE near production ready model at the ongoing 2020 Auto Expo at New Delhi. The small hatch is based on the new-generation version of petrol Renault Kwid launched last year in India.

Battery & Power

Powering the electric Kwid is the 26.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Coupled with the electric motor, it produces 44PS of max power and 125Nm of peak torque. The electric Kwid gets a range of 271km on one full charge with an option of quick charge as well.

The battery pack of the Renault Kwid EV supports AC and DC fast charging. It takes 4 hours for the battery to get fully charged when AC fast charging with a power source of 6.6kWh is opted. When DC fast charging used, it juices up the battery up to 80 per cent in 30 minutes.

Dimensions

The 100 per cent electric Renault Kwid gets a marginal (~1mm) longer wheelbase but gets a significant dip in the ground clearance. The Kwid EV has a clearance of 151mm – a drop by 33mm from the stock car.

Features

The Kwid was always a looker and with the facelift, the charisma of the French car has only grown. The K-ZE too looks identical to the standard version and gets piano black finish on the centre console along with a multi-drive mode selector below the console. An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit comes with 4G Wifi connectivity, digital dashboard and other traits matching the standard Kwid.

Launch

Renault hasn’t mentioned anything about the launch but we expect the vehicle to make inroads to the Indian market by 2022. The electric Kwid went on sale in China last year. When launched the price of the K-ZE will be under Rs 10 lakh.
