Homegrown auto magnate Tata Motors today unveiled their most awaited premium hatchback, the Tata 45X at the Auto Expo 2018. Tata 45X marks the debut of Tata Motors’ all-new and solid Advanced Modular Platform (AMP) for the first time. The plush hatch features solid design philosophy inside-out, thanks to the level next of its styling theme – Impact Design 2.0. Leading passenger car maker’s inaugural premium hatch will lock horns with the segment leaders Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, Maruti Baleno and others. Tata 45X will hit the showrooms nationwide in 2019 and is expected to fall in the price bracket of Rs 5 Lakh and Rs 8 Lakh ex-showroom, for the base and top end model respectively.

Though not much has been revealed on the mechanical aspect, the 45X is expected to feature retuned versions of the Tiago’s 1.2L petrol engine and 1.05L diesel motor. In addition to regular transmission gearboxes, the plush hatch will also present the convenience of an automatic transmission. Before the official unveiling Tata 45X witnessed a series of teasers that featured a glimpse of the car’s front bumper and side profile alongside a Nexon-like faux ceramic insert beneath window-line. Segment wise the 45X will be positioned above Tiago hatch.

The unveiled model features daytime running LEDs, LED tail lamps, body colored bumpers, 15-inch wheels, projector headlamps and others on the outside. Whilst, inside Tata 45X comes with 7-inch touch-screen, navigation, automatic headlamps, reverse camera, rear AC vents, rain sensing wipers etc. Moreover, safety feature list includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, engine immobilizer etc.

Tata Motors’ new and very flexible AMP platform will be used in the manufacturing of future small car models in the country. After the unveiling of the pre-production version of the premium hatch there are all chances that it will go into the production early next year in order to ensure a mid-2019 launch. Earlier, the super hit models range viz. stylish Tata Tiago hatch, Tata Tigor compact sedan and Tata Nexon mini SUV were based on the Tata Motors first level of Impact Design ideology.
