Tata HBX (H2X) Near Production Version Debuts At The Auto Expo 2020
Tata HBX (H2X) Micro-SUV will be powered by a 1.2L petrol engine and will hit company showrooms later this year.
Finally, the cat is out of the bag. As today we get to witness the full-fledged production version of the awaited Tata HBX aka H2X (Hornbill) at the 2020 Auto Expo. The micro-SUV from Tata Motors stands on the Altroz’s ALFA architecture and will be positioned below Tata Nexon SUV. Codenamed X445, its exteriors see inspiration from its muscular-rich sibling Tata Harrier, featuring macho stance, profound wheel arches, beefy front/rear bumpers and suave roofline.
Expected to be priced above Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India), post-launch it will possibly lock horns with Renault Kwid, Maruti S-Presso, Maruti Ignis and Mahindra KUV100.
Displayed at the Geneva Motor Show last year, it’s based on Tata Motors’ ingenious Impact 2.0 design ideology. Initially, to be powered by lone petrol choice, the Tata micro-SUV will be joined by a Ziptron technology-backed electric variant later. Just like the concept, the production-spec too gets aggressive front fascia, Harrier-like headlamps with LED DRLs at the front, upright stance and redesigned multi-reflector taillights and chunky alloy wheels setup.
Inside, the roomy cabin is adorned with modern equipment list comprising of a sunroof, touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, multi-information display, mounted controls and other safety features.
Engine department will see 2020 Tata Tiago shared 1.2L Revotron petrol engine with BS6 compliance. Mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox initially, it will soon see an automatic transmission rolling out to tackle city hustle. The sub-4-metre Tata HBX SUV gets similar exterior measurements as a concept model. The length and width stretch at 3840mm and 1822mm respectively, while height stands at 1635mm. The wheelbase stands at 2450mm.
Furthermore, Tata Motors also unveiled its highly anticipated Tata Gravitas SUV (seven-seater) alongside the micro-SUV and slew of other passenger and commercial vehicles at the Auto Expo 2020.
