Tata Motors adds new XT and XZ+ diesel variants to the lineup of Tata Altroz Dark Edition

Tata Motors has extended the lineup of Dark Edition of Tata Altroz with three new variants – XT petrol, XT turbo-petrol and XZ+ diesel. Until now, the Tata Altroz Dark Edition was solely available in the top-spec XZ+ petrol and XZ+ turbo-petrol variant.

With the inclusion of new variants, the Tata Altroz Dark Edition is now available in five variants – XT petrol, XT turbo-petrol, XZ+ petrol, XZ+ turbo-petrol and XZ+ diesel. With the inclusion of the new mid-variant, the starting price of the Tata Altroz Dark Edition lineup is Rs 7.96 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The new XT variants in both petrol and turbo-petrol iterations of Tata Altroz Dark Edition get subtle features like dark-tinted “Hyperstyle” wheel caps, #Dark badges on the outside, leatherette upholstery for seats, steering wheel and gear lever, height-adjustable driver’s seat and rear headrests. The XT variants of the Tata Altroz Dark Edition is available with both 1.2-litre 86 PS petrol and 1.2-litre 110 PS turbo-petrol engine options, both of which come standard with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Along with launching the XZ+ diesel variant, Tata Motors has also updated the XZ+ petrol and XZ+ turbo-petrol variants with a couple of new features. For starters, the XZ+ variant now comes with safety features like brake sway control and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Apart from these features, the XZ+ variant continues to get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, leatherette upholstery, push start-stop button, 16-inch black alloy wheels and projector headlamps with daytime running LEDs. The XZ+ variant of Tata Altroz Dark Edition is available with all the engine options – 1.2-litre 86 PS petrol, 1.2-litre 110 PS turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre 90 PS diesel.

It is interesting to note that Tata Motors has revealed only the prices of the XT petrol version of Altroz Dark Edition. Tata is yet to reveal the prices of XT turbo-petrol and XZ+ diesel variants of Altroz Dark Edition. The XZ+ petrol and XZ+ turbo-petrol variants of Altroz Dark Edition are already on sale at Rs 8.80 lakh and Rs 9.40 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, India).

The new mid-level variants of the Tata Altroz Dark Edition have given the buyers an option for selecting the unique paint shade of black at more affordable price points. The Tata Altroz is currently the only premium hatchback in India to offer a paint shade of black in its list of colour schemes.

The Tata Altroz Dark Edition competes with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo in the premium hatchback segment. The competition is going to intensify even more, as the launch of the updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno is just around the corner.
