Tata Nexon AMT unveiled

Tata Motors launched the Nexon compact SUV in the mid-2017, and with just half of the year passed, the company today showcased the new AMT variants of the Nexon at the ongoing Auto Expo 2018. This was the first product from Tata in the compact SUV department.

First of its line from Tata, the crossover themed sub 4-metre compact SUV garnered all the attention at the Auto Expo it was speculated for. The option of Automatic Manual Transmission is available in both petrol and diesel models. The car which is expected to launch in the near future is reasoned to start from Rs. 7.8 lakh for petrol and Rs. 8.7 lakh for diesel variants, which are Rs. 50,000 more than the manual variants.

Tata Nexon AMT Specifications

The AMT variants of Tata Nexon use the same engines as the previously launched manual versions. The 1.2 litre 4-cylinder turbo charged petrol and 1.5 litre 4-cylinder turbo charged diesel engines are the same borrowed from the MT variants. The petrol engine produces 108bhp maximum power and 170Nm maximum torque whereas the diesel counterpart has the capacity to churn 108bhp peak power and 250Nm peak torque. Beside the addition of the AMT, there is no visual difference between the automatic and manual models. Nonetheless, it is the cheapest automatic compact SUV available in the Indian market which plays to its advantage.

Tata Nexon Features

The AMT has the all-new creep function in alignment with the speed gearboxes which makes it very useful for crawling in city traffic’s stop and go conditions. Another eye grabbing feature is the kickdown function which will get activated when the driver hits the accelerator and will give the car a good acceleration when needed. This feature shows its utility during overtaking maneuvers, greatly minimizing the lag for which the AMTs are generally known.
