Toyota Yaris, Honda City Rival Launched In India at Rs. 8.75 Lakh (Ex-showroom)

Toyota, the Japanese car maker has launched in India the much awaited mid-sized sedan, the Yaris at the price tag of Rs. 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Toyota Yaris is launched in four trims, and is available in both manual and automatic transmission options for the entire lineup. However, there is no diesel engine in the list.
The car comes with many first-in-class features such as seven airbags, gesture control power adjustable driver seat etc. The design of the all-new Toyota Yaris is borrowed from sibling Corolla Altis, however, its competition in the Indian market will be mainly with the mid-sized sedans like Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna and Skoda Rapid.

Featuring the awe-inspiring design, Toyota Yaris was earlier unveiled at the Indian Auto Expo 2018. What makes the car looks classy from outside are the sleek headlights, LED DRLs, dual tone bumper and fluidic tail lights. You can call it a mini Corolla.

Interior and Features

The auto-major has started the delivery of the Yaris sedan today onwards and the company is expecting to gain around 7 to 8 percent sales hike with the Yaris’ debut in the market. Inside, the car is offered with plenty of space and the usage of premium plastics make it more appealing.

The eye-catchy feature inside is the ‘waterfall’ centre console that houses a large 7-inches touchscreen. This feature is available right from the second variant, ‘G’. The base variant ‘J’ also hosts plenty of noteworthy features like standard music system along with Bluetooth, keyless entry, height adjustable driver’s seat, power adjustable ORVMs and power windows. The top end variants on the other hand come with some exclusive features like MiracasTM, Weblink, HDMI, touchscreen with gesture control and a remote control. Right from the second variant ‘G’, Toyota Yaris gets roof mounted AC vents along with automatic climate control.

Engine & Specifications

What powers the Yaris sedan is the frugal 1.5L dual VVT-I petrol mill that is capable of producing massive 107PS peak power at 6000 rpm and 140Nm peak torque at 4200 rpm. The engine is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission. The company also offers CVT gearbox as an alternate option in all the variants.

Safety Features

The Yaris sedan is offered with safety features such as ABS along with EBD, Brake Assist, seven airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system and vehicle stability control.
