Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition price in india

Volkswagen has launched a limited edition version of the Polo hatchback, which is the final update received by the current-generation model of the car. Dubbed ‘Legend Edition’, the limited-run version will be produced for 700 units. After the Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition, there will be no more updates to the Polo, which has served as the longest-running and highest selling model from Volkswagen in India.

Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition – Price and Variants

The Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition is based on the top-spec GT TSI, with all the 700 units of it being priced at Rs 10.25 lakh. At this price, it costs the same as the regular version of the Polo GT TSI.

Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition – What’s new

The Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition gets a host of visual add-ons, all of which are limited to the exterior of the car. This limited edition model gets ‘Legend’ badges on front fenders and boot lid, black trunk garnish, blacked-out Legend decals on the door panels, gloss-black roof wrap and gloss-black coloured rearview mirrors and rear spoiler. All these adds-on will be fitted on the car at dealer outlets only.

Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition – What remains unchanged?

Apart from the visual updates on the outside as mentioned above, the Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition gets no other visual or mechanical update. It gets the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which powers the regular GT TSI variant. Available with a 6-speed torque converter as standard, the engine here produces 110 PS of power and 175 Nm of torque.

There are no changes on the equipment list either, with the Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition getting all the features from the current top-spec GT TSI variant. In addition to the 16-inch alloy wheels on the outside, the Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition also gets a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a multi-functional steering wheel, cruise control, automatic climate control and driver seat height adjustment. It also gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and reverse parking sensors.

Volkswagen Polo Legend Edition – The last time the Polo is going on sale in India

With the limited-run Legend Edition, Volkswagen is bidding goodbye to Polo, a car that helped Volkswagen cement its position in India as a mainstream car maker. Launched in 2010, the Volkswagen Polo continued to be on sale with minor exterior updates, feature additions on the inside and various petrol and diesel engines.

Currently, the Volkswagen Polo was available with 1.0-litre MPI (naturally-aspirated) petrol and 1.0-litre TSI (turbocharged) petrol engine options. Volkswagen has already said that it will not be bringing the new-generation Polo to India, so the Legend Edition is the last way with which one can have the ownership experience of a brand new Volkswagen Polo.

The Volkswagen Polo will not be getting a direct replacement now, for the German carmaker is eyeing the mass market with its two new launches, the Taigun SUV and Virtus sedan. Volkswagen even launched the Tiguan SUV a few weeks ago, which is positioned in a niche segment and is not a volume seller like the Tiguan and Virtus.
