2021 Yamaha Aerox 155 brought to India

After years of speculations, Yamaha has brought in the performance-oriented Aerox 155 maxi-scooter to the Indian shores. Positioned above both the 125cc scooters, Ray ZR and Fascino, the new Yamaha Aerox 155 will now be serving as the new flagship scooter from Yamaha in the Indian two-wheeler market.

2021 Yamaha Aerox 155: Variants and Prices

The Yamaha Aerox 155 has been priced at Rs 1.29 lakh for the Racing Blue and Grey Vermillion colour options, and Rs. 1.30 lakh for the MotoGP edition (both prices ex-showroom, India).

The Yamaha Aerox 155 will directly take on Aprilia’s flagship scooter in India, the SXR 160. In terms of pricing, it also matches Vespa SXL 150, which is priced at Rs 1.35 lakh.

2021 Yamaha Aerox 155: Design and Features

The new Yamaha Aerox 155 look nothing like the other two scooters, and comes with an internationally acclaimed design, featuring a sporty maxi-scooter appeal. The aggressive bodywork of the Aerox 155 gets a rakish design for the front apron, apron-mounted dual LED headlamps with daytime running LEDs, LED tail lamp and split design for the floorboard.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 also gets a best-in-class front glove box with USB charger, stepped seat with 24.5-litres of the under-seat storage compartment, multi-functional ignition keyhole with different buttons for seat and fuel filler, external fuel lid on the centre of the floorboard tunnel, side stand engine cut-off switch, premium switchgear and aluminium levers.

The Yamaha Aerox 155 gets an all-digital blue-backlit instrument console, which has features like a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, clock, app alerts and Bluetooth compatibility. The scooter is also compatible with Yamaha’s Y-Connect smartphone application, which has a fuel consumption tracker, last parking location, rev dashboard, maintenance recommendations, malfunction notification and riding behaviour.

2021 Yamaha Aerox 155: Engine and Gearbox

The Yamaha Aerox 155 gets the same four-stroke, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 155cc engine from the other Yamaha motorcycles like YZF-R15 and MT-15. Here too, the engine gets the much-acclaimed Variable Valve Actuation technology but is paired to a CVT gearbox instead of a 6-speed manual unit. The engine is also heavily tuned for suiting the scooter’s characteristic, and therefore, it makes different performance output figures – 15 bhp @ 8,000 rpm of maximum power and 13.9 Nm @ 6,500 rpm of peak torque output.

2021 Yamaha Aerox 155: Chassis

The new Yamaha Aerox 155 sits on a completely different frame compared to that of Ray ZR 125 or Fascino 125. The scooter gets standard telescopic forks at the front and dual coil springs at the rear, making it the first scooter to get the latter feature. It rides on 14-inch wheels with 110/80-14 front and 140/70-14 rear tubeless tyres. Lastly, the Aerox 155 has been fitted with a 230mm disc brake at the front and 130mm drum brake at the rear and gets a single-channel ABS as standard.
