Audi e-Tron GT Previewed For India

After making a departure from diesel powertrain technology here in India, Audi India is bullish on its plans of electric mobility. The German car maker is all set to expand of its lineup of electric vehicles with the all new e-tron GT. Expected to arrive in October 2021, the Audi e-tron GT will be the car maker’s third all electric vehicle, after it launched the e-tron and e-tron Sportback in July 2021.

Unlike the e-tron and e-tron Sportback crossovers, the Audi e-tron GT is a four door coupe. Globally, the e-tron GT is currently available in two different versions, the S and RS, both of which come in an all-wheel drive configuration with an electric motor on both the axles. However, in India, it is not clear if both of them will be launched or either of them.

Audi e-tron GT S

The S version of the Audi e-tron GT comes with a 238 bhp motor on the front axle and a 435 bhp motor on the rear axle. The combined power and torque outputs of the powertrain are rated at 475 bhp and 630 Nm respectively. The car is capable of hitting a top spedd of 245 kmph and can cover the 0-100 kmph sprint in 4.1 seconds. The 85 kWh battery pack of this variant offers a maximum driving range of 488 km.

Audi e-tron GT RS

The RS version is more performance oriented one, with the combined power and torque outputs being 598 bhp and 830 Nm respectively. The RS variant also comes with a boost mode, which takes the power output to 646 bhp. With a claimed top speed of 250 kmph, the RS version can hit the 100 kmph mark from standstill in 3.3 seconds. This version too gets the same 85 kWh battery pack, however, the range is a bit lesser at 472 km.

The low slung coupe stance of the Audi e-tron GT will make it the first electric sedan to make its way in India. The other major highlights of the exterior design of the Audi e-tron GT will be sloping roofline, low bonnet, single-frame grille with body colored honeycomb pattern and all-LED headlamps and tail lamps with unique animations.

Audi e-tron GT – Interior

Available in a dual tone shade of black and walnut brown, the cabin of the Audi e-tron GT will pack in sophisticated features like 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 12.3-inch full TFT display for virtual cockpit, shift-by-wire gear selector, dual zone automatic climate control and use of sustainable materials for the cabin parts.

Audi is aiming to get 15 per cent of its annual sales from electric vehicles by 2025. If this goal is accomplished, Audi will take it as a positive sign for local assembly of electric vehicles, which will further reduce their price. To achieve this feat, following the launch of e-tron GT, Audi will bring in smaller e-tron models, such as Q4 e-tron as well as upcoming A6 e-tron and Q6 e-tron.
