This happens to be the first ever car owned by Bill Gates. In an interview of him taken by Ellen DeGeneres, Bill Gates himself revealed that this particular Porsche 911 was one of his first big ticket purchases of his life, which he made in 1979. This was always the top most name in his list of dream cars, which he accomplished after the successful setup of Microsoft.

This very Porsche 911 featured a 3.0-liter flat six petrol engine, which used to produce a maximum power output of 180 PS and a maximum torque of 237 Nm. While these figures seem to be too modest for a sports car, these were quite a revelation in those days.

Since the possession of this Porsche 911, Bill Gates used to commute from home to his office in Albuquerque in this very car. However, in 2012, this car was auctioned for $80,000 in Austria, and Bill Gates no longer owns this car. It is believed that Bill Gates has received multiple speed tickets for over speeding in this Porsche 911, and he even went to jail once in 1997 for the same reason.

The Porsche 959 Sports is one of the highly reputed cars in the overall history of Porsche till date. When it was introduced back in late eighties in the market, it was touted to be the fastest street legal production car in the world, with its top speed rated at 317 kmph.

Technologically too, the Porsche 959 Sports was a pioneer in itself, for the fact that it was the first ever sports car from Porsche to feature an all-wheel drive setup. Till date, Porsche produce only 337 units of the 959 Sports for sale, and Bill Gates was one of them. With a highly aerodynamic design as well as a punchy and powerful engine at its back, the Porsche 959 Sports was designed to be high performance car to enjoy at higher speeds.

Powering the Porsche 959 Sports was a 2.8-liter twin-turbo flat six engine, which used to produce a maximum power output of 450 PS and a maximum torque output of 500 Nm. This car was capable of hitting the 100 kmph mark from standstill in under four seconds.

Porsche Taycan

The Porsche Taycan is the brand’s first ever all-electric model which is designed on the lines of the current Porsche models. However, it misses out on the turbocharged flat six engines Porsche has always known for, and instead, gets an all-electric powertrain.

The Porsche Taycan was premiered to the world for the first time back in 2015 at Frankfurt Motor Show. It instantly managed to draw a lot of eyeballs for its futuristic appeal, which thankfully retained the classic Porsche design language. The Taycan entered into production floors in 2019, and Bill Gates owned this car after retiring from Microsoft. The Porsche Taycan happens to be the latest inclusion in the car collection of Bill Gates.

The Porsche Taycan is bestowed with an all-electric powertrain, which comprises of two AC synchronous electric motors, with one each on front and rear axles. These motors are paired to a 93.4 kWh battery, which results in power and torque outputs of 625 PS and 1050 Nm respectively.

The Ferrari 348 holds an emotional place in the history of the Italian brand, for the fact that it was the last V8 powered sports car which was developed under the supervision of the founder of the brand, Enzo Ferrari. The Ferrari 348 was launched after his death, and to make it exclusive, only 8,844 units of it were produced.

The Ferrari 348 owned by Bill Gates is in the trademark shade of red and gets a 3.4-liter V8 petrol engine to propel it from standstill. The power and torque outputs of the Ferrari 348 in its highest spec form were rated at 320 PS and 324 Nm respectively. The car was capable of hitting a top speed of 280 kmph.

Bill Gates owns the hatchback version of the Ford Focus, and it was this car which he used to commute to office, after parting his ways with the Porsche 911. After all, even you are the richest person of the world, driving a Porsche as a daily commuter isn’t too practical idea.

The Ford Focus owned by Bill Gates is the third generation version of the hatchback which was previewed to the audience for the first time in 2010 North American International Auto Show. The hatchback got a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine under its hood, which makes a maximum power output of 160 PS and a maximum torque output of 198 Nm.
