Hyundai came in a bit late to the party of the sub-four-meter compact SUV category with the Venue, but the offering was worth the wait. The Hyundai Venue came to India as a replacement model of the i20 Active, by offering a more heightened and SUV-like stance over the latter. In no short time, the Venue started to give established models like Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford Ecosport a run for their money.

Despite being one of the oldest in the sub-four-meter SUV category, the Hyundai Venue is still one of the best-equipped and modern looking SUVs in its price range. Like any other Hyundai product, the Venue is well-equipped across an extensively differentiated variant lineup, the details of which are as follows:

Variants and Prices

Manual variants

Starting with the 1.2-litre petrol variants first, they are available solely with a 5-speed manual gearbox in three variants – E, S and S+. The prices for these variants range between Rs 6.99-8.67 lakh. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox is solely available in the SX variant, which is priced at Rs 10.09 lakh. The diesel engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox is offered in S (O), SX, SX (O) Executive and SX (O) variants, which are priced between Rs 9.56-11.84 lakh.

Automatic Variants

Only the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine is offered with a choice of two automatic gearboxes. The S (O), SX and SX (O) variants are available with a 6-speed iMT gearbox, with prices ranging between Rs 9.13-11.50 lakh. Meanwhile, the S (O) and SX+ variants are available with a 7-speed DCT, with prices varying between Rs 10.03-11.88 lakh.

Engine and Transmission

Hyundai Venue intelligent Manual Transmission iMT

In the sub-four-meter compact SUV space, the Hyundai Venue is the one with the most number of powertrain and gearbox combinations. The range starts with a humble 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which is available solely with a 5-speed manual gearbox and produces 83 PS of power and 114 Nm of torque.

The more powerful 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which produces 120 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque, is offered with a choice of three transmissions – 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT. The range tops off with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which puts up 100 PS of power and 240 Nm of torque, and is available only with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Safety and Security Features

Like any compact car, the base-spec variant of the Hyundai Venue is specced only with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and ISOFIX mounts for child seats. As the variant lineup sees an increase, the Venue adds in further safety features like side and curtain airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill hold assist, vehicle stability management, electronic stability control, automatic headlamps, projector fog lamps, reverse camera and follow-me-home headlamps.

The Hyundai Venue is available with two types of the infotainment system. While the S and S (O) variants get a simple 2-DIN audio system, the variants positioned higher above them get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

Dimensions

The Hyundai Venue boasts a length of 3995 mm, a width of 1770 mm and a height of 1605mm, though it is not the spacious SUV on the inside in its segment. However, the boot space of 350 litres and a ground clearance of 190 mm is more than enough for a sub-compact SUV.
