ICOTY 2018 award is bagged by Hyundai Verna leaving behind Maruti Dzire and Jeep Compass in the contender list. IMOTY 2018 award is bagged by KTM Duke 390.
The wait finally ends, the all-new Hyundai Verna has been adjudged as The Indian Car Of The Year 2018. It was a tough call as the other two competitors in the final round were the Jeep Compass and the all-new Maruti Dzire. And, The Indian Bike Of The Year award is bagged by the KTM Duke 390.
The JK Tyre ICOTY and IMOTY Awards are held every year and are termed as the ‘Oscars’ of the Indian automotive industry. The apex award is being organised by the tyre giant, JK Tyre since the time of its inception. Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. was present at the event and handed over the prestigious awards to the respective automakers.
The 13th edition of these awards was electrified by the live performance of the Indian Ocean Band, famed for its contemporary fusion music.
The Jury includes select senior members of various media house publications. The automobiles are chosen based on various parameters like price, fuel efficiency, styling, comfort, features, technical innovation, value for money quotient and practicality on Indian roads. The announcement of the winners was done by the Chairman of IMOTY and Editor of BikeIndia, Mr. Aspi Bathena.
The Indian Car Of The Year and The Indian Bike Of The Year Awards are held at the end of each year in December. With cars like the Hyundai Creta facelift, next-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift, updated Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and other cars launching next year, the JK Tyre ICOTY and IMOTY 2019 Award promises to be yet another big event.
