The Auto Expo 2018 has started with a boom. Adding to the fuel, the country’s leading two wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has introduced the 125cc version of its popular scooter, Hero Duet. The new 125cc Duet has been bestowed with some interesting features to meet the market need and to compete well with its competition. The Hero has never tried its hand in the 125cc scooter segment, however now the domestic two wheeler giant has added two scooters to its scooter portfolio – the Maestro Edge 125 and the Duet 125. Both the scooters will cater different audiences. The Duet 125 will lock its horns with Honda’s popular scooter, the Honda Activa 125, which is very popular in India.
The new scooter gets its power from 125cc, i3s technology-based engine which has been produced by Hero itself and has been used in its bikes earlier. It is basically a start-stop technology that enhances vehicle’s fuel economy. The new engine is capable of producing 8.5bhp of power and can produce 10Nm of torque. In terms of design and appearance, the scooter looks pretty much similar to its younger sibling. However, a few changes are made. The new unisex scooter Duet 125 gets H-shaped taillight along with analogue-digital console, telescopic forks and the alloy wheels. In addition, the scooter also offers a dedicated mobile charging slot. Adding premium touch to Duet 125 is its fresh styling, chrome accents and large blinkers.
Alongside the unisex scooter, the company introduced the mannish and more powerful Maestro Edge 125. The scooter shares the same engine specs, which give out similar power figures. The company has been doing pretty well in the motorcycle segment, but the company has got a huge scope in the thriving scooter category. Its closest competition, the Honda Activa 125 and the Suzuki Access are pretty much ahead in market share. With 125cc avatar, the company is hoping to increase the volume in this category.
