Skoda Auto India Launches the Rapid Rider Plus Trim at INR 7.99 Lakh in India

Skoda Rapid Rider Plus gets distinctive black and silver design elements, features 1.0TSI petrol and many new features.

Skoda Auto India has today launched the Rider Plus variant of its popular mid-size sedan the Rapid TSI at the price of INR 7.99 (ex-showroom, India). The all-new Skoda Auto Rider Plus, alike its other Skoda car models, comes with an impeccable design, superior build quality, unbending performance, enhanced safety and security features. The sedan also offers an exemplary ‘value for money’ proposition to its customers. The elegant looking Rapid Rider Plus will now be offered in four colour choices, which include Carbon Steel, Candy White, Brilliant Silver and Toffee Brown.

Design Philosophy

The newly introduced Rapid Rider Plus sports a modern crystalline appearance that syncs well with Skoda’s signature design language and legacy. With the distinctive black and silver design elements, the Rapid Rider Plus looks more assertive and dynamic. The black facade of the brand’s signature grille complements the decorative side foils, glossy black decor on the B pillars, trunk lip garnish and the new window chrome garnish. The Czech heritage and modern technology can be felt inside the cabins due to the presence of the all-new dual-tone ebony sand interior complemented with premium ivory slate upholstery. Another highlight that makes this sedan more appealing are the stainless steel scuff plates with ‘RAPID’ inscription.

Skoda Rapid Rider Plus’ new highlight is the 16.51 cm ‘Drive’ colour touchscreen central infotainment system. It features the SmartLink™ technology which helps in controlling selected apps such as navigation straight on the screen and provides seamless connectivity through a smartphone on the go. In addition, it also supports USB/Aux-in/Bluetooth options along with MirrorLink®, Apple CarPlay or Android Auto compatibility.

In addition to these features, the Rapid Rider Plus also gets an advanced climatronic technology that avails dust and pollen filter, adjustable dual rear AC vents, tilt and telescopic multifunction steering wheel, 12 V power socket in front and rear centre console, foldable armrests, adjustable headrests, multi-functional display, central locking system with remote control, numerous ‘Simply Clever’ storage solutions and more.

Engine and Transmission

Under the hood, the Skoda Rapid Rider Plus gets the much-calibrating new 999cc three-cylinder TSI engine that produces peak power of 110 PS (81 kW) and peak torque of 175 Nm. This engine is also great in terms of fuel efficiency. This car with its highly efficient six-speed manual transmission returns a mileage of 18.97 kmpl (as per ARAI).

As compared to the outgoing 1.6 MPI engine, the Skoda Rapid Rider Plus offers 5% more power and 14% more torque. Added to this, the efficient engine of the new Rapid Rider Plus also offers 23% increased fuel efficiency as compared to the previous one. The new Rider Plus sedan is more refined, efficient and high-performing car.

Safety and Security Features

Skoda Rapid Rider Plus goes with its brand’s image and gets an array of much-essential safety features like dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system, Parktronic rear parking sensors, anti-glare IRVM, rear windscreen defogger with timer, three-point seatbelts with height adjustable feature at the front, rough road package, fuel supply cut off in case of a crash, engine immobilizer with floating code system and a lot more.
