The new XL-sized SUV now gets bigger in proportions than its predecessor.
After revealing the new Mercedes-Benz GLS internationally in April, the German automaker has launched the SUV officially in India at a starting price of Rs 99.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The third-generation GLS gets Mercedes’ latest MBUX multimedia system among other updates. It has now grown in proportions compared to its earlier version. The 2020 GLS is available in two variants – 400d diesel and 450 petrol.
Available in both petrol and diesel options, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS generates enough power and torque with both powertrains.

For a 2.4 tonne SUV, the acceleration figures are simply incredible. The petrol engine also gets a 48V mild-hybrid system.
The increased proportions have raised the road appearance of the vehicle and, of course, the cabin space. It has gone longer, wider and gets increased wheelbase. The height remains unchanged.

|Length||5207 mm||77 mm|
|Width||1999 mm||22 mm|
|Wheelbase||3135 mm||60 mm|
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS comes loaded with standard features such as panoramic sunroof, five-zone climate control, rear-seat screens, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, Merc’s latest MBUX multimedia system with gesture control and voice command, wireless charging at front and rear, 64-colour ambient lighting, power-folding second and third-row seats and 11 USB ports.
For shielding the occupants, the 2020 GLS gets 9 airbags, blind spot assist, active brake assist, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and off-road ABS (anti-lock braking system).
The new-gen model revives its competition with the likes of the BMW X7 and BMW X6 in India. The X7 is offered at the starting price tag of Rs 92.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India), while the newly launched 2020 BMW X6 comes at the price tag of Rs 95 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
