With the arrival of much-hyped upcoming electric scooter from Ola has brought back focus to the segment of electric scooters, which still is in a very nascent stage. The segment might be limited for now with very less players, but the arrival of much bigger brands like Bajaj and TVS has shown that the segment is off to a good start now.

Following is a list of best electric scooters in India:

Ather 450X

Price: Rs. 1,44,500 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru)

While many electric scooters have ventured in the Indian market, it was the Ather 450X which managed to take the game higher with its range of technologies and futuristic appeal on offer. The Ather 450X has an edgy design and comes with many modern features, including three riding modes (Eco, Ride and Sports) and a touchscreen colored infotainment system which facilitates google maps and call, SMS and music alerts.

The Ather 450X sources its power from a 6 kW electric motor, which can do 0-40 kmph sprint in just 3.3 seconds. A 2.9 kWh lithium-ion electric battery offers a decent range of 85 km and takes 3 hours and 35 minutes for 0-80% charge using home socket.

Bajaj Chetak

Price: Rs. 1,42,988 onwards (ex-showroom, Bengaluru)

Bajaj re-introduced the legendary Chetak nameplate from the yesteryears in the form of an all-electric new generation scooter. While the rounded design language of the Bajaj Chetak stays true to the original design, the features like all LED headlamps and tail lamps, sequential LED turn indicators and a fully digital instrument console makes it a scooter of today’s day and age.

Available in two variants, Urbane and Premium, the Bajaj Chetak is powered by a 4 kW electric motor, which makes 16 Nm of peak torque. The 3.8 kWh electric battery of the Chetak offers a maximum riding range of 95 km in the Eco mode and 85 km in the Sport mode.

TVS iQube

Price: Rs. 1,10,506 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru)

TVS began the game of electric scooters long time ago with the Scooty Teenz Electric. However, the new TVS iQube is a much more modern offering, with new-age features like all LED lighting and TFT instrument console, and a quirky design language which makes it a noteworthy electric scooter with its own identity.

The TVS iQube gets a 4.4 kW electric motor, which is one of the most powerful electric scooter motors with a claimed top speed of 78 kmph and 0-40 kmph sprint of 4.2 seconds. The 3 kW lithium ion battery of the iQube can provide a range of up to 75 km in the Eco mode it has on offer.

Hero Electric Optima

Price: Rs. 51,440 onwards (ex-showroom, Bengaluru)

The Hero Electric Optima is one of the oldest nameplates in this list, and is the one which is offered with most number of variants to choose from – 4, to be exact. With a simple design and built, the new Hero Electric Optima comes in two different trims – low speed and high speed.

The low speed trim of the Hero Electric Optima has two variants – LA and LI. While the LA comes with a lead acid battery with a range of 50 km, the LI has a lithium ion battery which promises a range of 65 km. The top speed of both the variants is 25 kmph.

The high speed trim of the Hero Electric Optima too comes with two variants – E5 and ER. The E5 variant, with its single battery setup, claims a range of 55 km, while the ER with its dual battery range promises 110 km of range. These variants offer a slightly better performance with a top speed of 40 kmph.

Okinawa iPraise+

Price: Rs. 99,708 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru)

One of the newest players in the market, the Okinawa iPraise+ has impressed many with its edgy and flashy design and decent specifications for its price. This electric scooter from Japan comes with a 1 kW motor and a 3.3 kWh lithium ion battery, the latter of which take 4-5 hours to get fully charged. In a single charge, the Okinawa iPraise+ claims to go as far as 139 km, while the electric scooter can go up to the speed of 58 kmph.

YO Edge DX

Price: Rs 49,000 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru)

The arrival of YO bikes happened with much fanfare, for the fact that they offered electric mobility at very affordable prices, something which forced other two wheeler maker to stand up and take notice of it.

The latest offering from the company, the YO Edge DX, is a relatively lesser known name among the competitors. However, it is a decent electric scooter with a 0.25 kW motor and a 1.2 kWh lithium ion battery. The meagre specs enable the scooter to have a range of 60 kms, with the battery taking 7-8 hours for full charge.

BGauss B8

Price: Rs. 62,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru)

The Bgauss B8 is one of the newest offerings and comes with a very off-beat design and decent number of modern features at a very accessible price point. Power comes from a 1.9 kW motor, which allows the scooter to have 9.46 Nm of torque and touch a top speed of 50 kmph. The scooter promises a range of 70 km from both of its battery options available – a 1.45 kWh lithium ion battery which is removable and a 1.34 kWh lead acid battery which is fixed.

Joy e-bike Glob

Price: Rs. 72,500 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru)

Joy e-bike Glob

This funky looking scooter might not be as popular as other options listed above, but offers a decent package at its price. The Joy e-bike Glob has a cutesy retro design complete with basic features and a moderate 0.25 kW electric motor and a 1.38 kWh electric battery. The battery takes 3.5 hours to charge from flat to full, and can has a small riding range of 60 kms in a single charge.

Gemopai Astrid Lite

Price: Rs 79,990 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru)

Gemopai Astrid Lite

The edgy looking Gemopai Astrid Lite has a design which looks the sportiest in its category of entry level electric scooters. This electric scooter comes with a 1.7 kWh electric battery, which makes the scooter cover 90 kms in a single charge. The scooter comes with three ride modes – Sports, City and Economy and an electric motor of 4 kW rating, the latter of which makes the scooter touch a maximum speed of 65 kmph.
