Ola has opened the pre-bookings of its first ever product for mobility solutions, the Ola Electric scooter. Prospective customers can book their Ola Electric at the company’s official website www.olaelectric.com for a token amount of Rs. 499. Ola has announced that the customers will be getting the deliveries of the scooter on the priority basis of these online bookings.

Customers will have to login on the website through their phone number via an OTP validation. Upon doing this, they can reserve their Ola Electric scooter by doing payment through netbanking, UPI, credit and debit cards or OlaMoney. After the booking is made, the customers will receive an order ID and other details though an SMS notification or email. The desired color and variant, however, can only be chosen at the time of launch.

One can reserve multiple scooters if he/she wants, and if needed, he/she can transfer this booking in the name of someone else as well, after writing a request mail to support@olaelectric.com. This booking amount is completely refundable, if one wishes to cancel his/her booking afterwards. After cancellation, one can receive the booking amount back in 7-10 working days.

The Ola Electric scooter is the first product by the renowned Indian startup, and is made at Ola Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. This 500-acre factory has the capacity of making 10 million scooters annually in its full swing, which makes it the world’s largest two wheeler factory.

While not much details about the scooter have been revealed, but going by the official pictures, it is expected to get features like full LED headlamps with daytime running LEDs, a full TFT colored instrument console with in-built navigation system and bluetooth connectivity for phone/SMS alerts, LED tail lamps and turn indicators and split pillion grab rails. The charging port of the scooter is placed above the tail lamp assembly at the back. While the under-seat storage compartment capacity is unknown, it is big enough to store two medium sized helmets at one time.

While technical details of the powertrain and chassis too have been kept under wraps, the new Ola Electric scooter can be charged at home using a home charger in any 5A socket. In addition, Ola is coming up with its electric charging network with 1000+ hyperchargers in more than 100 cities at the time of its launch, which in later stages, will be expanded to more than 400 cities. After charging for 18 minutes using this hypercharger, one can get a range of 75 km.
