Mahindra Scorpio-N Z2 vs Z4 vs Z6 vs Z8 vs Z8 L: Which one is best for you?

Mahindra has launched the all-new Scorpio-N, and just like its previous offerings like Thar and XUV700, the UV specialist has left no stone unturned and launched the Scorpio-N with multiple engines and gearbox options. The new Mahindra Scorpio-N has been introduced in five variants – Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8 and Z8 L – all of which are available in different engine and gearbox combinations. In addition, the Z4, Z8 and Z8 L variants also get the option of a four-wheel-drive system with the diesel-manual version.

Following is a list of all the variants of the Mahindra Scorpio-N, with all the engine and gearbox combinations and features available in each of the variants in the lineup:

Mahindra Scorpio-N Z2

Scorpio-N features

Price: Rs 11.99 lakh (petrol manual RWD), Rs 12.49 lakh (diesel manual RWD)

Powertrain options available:

  • 0-litre petrol with 6-speed manual (203 PS power, 370 Nm torque)
  • 2-litre diesel with 6-speed manual (130 PS power, 300 Nm torque)

The Z2 is the base-spec variant of the Mahindra Scorpio-N, which is available in only two versions – petrol-manual and diesel-manual. This variant covers all the basic grounds, with features like a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system (without Apple Carplay and Android Auto), manual AC with second row AC vents, 4.1-inch LCD MID in the instrument console, steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls, power windows and USB charging port in the front row.

On the outside, this variant of the Scorpio-N gets features like halogen headlamps, LED tail lamps, front and rear skid plates, blacked-out grille and 17-inch steel wheels. The standard safety features in this variant include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, all-wheel disc brakes and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.

Mahindra Scorpio-N Z4

Price: Rs 13.49 lakh (petrol-manual RWD), Rs 13.99 lakh (diesel-manual RWD)

Powertrain options available:

  • 0-litre petrol with 6-speed manual (203 PS power, 370 Nm torque)
  • 0-litre petrol with 6-speed automatic (203 of power, 380 Nm torque)
  • 2-litre diesel with 6-speed manual (175 PS power, 370 Nm torque)
  • 2-litre diesel with 6-speed automatic (175 PS power, 400 Nm torque)

Above the base-spec Z2 variant, the Mahindra Scorpio-N Z4 variant adds a few more premium features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, electrically-adjustable outside rear view mirrors, cruise control, USB charging port in the front and second rows, cooled glovebox, driver seat height adjustment with lumbar support and air purifier.

The exterior of this variant adds a few more elements like a rear wiper and washer, silver-finished grille, rear spoiler, black roof rails and wheel caps for 17-inch steel wheels. The safety equipment list also gets longer with more features like hill hold assist, hill descent control and electronic stability control. The diesel-manual version also gets the option of a four-wheel-drive system.

Mahindra Scorpio-N Z6

Price: Rs 14.99 lakh (diesel-manual RWD)

Powertrain options available:

  • 2-litre diesel with 6-speed manual (175 PS power, 370 Nm torque)
  • 2-litre diesel with 6-speed automatic (175 PS power, 400 Nm torque)

The Z6 variant misses out on petrol powertrain and comes only with the 2.2-litre diesel engine with both manual and automatic transmission options. The most crucial feature additions in this variant include a single-pane sunroof, 7-inch TFT MID in the instrument console, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto for the infotainment system and three drive modes (Zip, Zap and Zoom). Other additional features in the Z6 variant, in addition to all the features of the Z4 variant, include built-in Amazon Alexa with what3words, connected car features and an anti-pinch function for front windows.

Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8

Price: Rs 16.99 lakh (petrol-manual RWD), Rs 17.49 lakh (diesel-manual RWD)

  • 0-litre petrol with 6-speed automatic (203 PS power, 380 Nm torque)
  • 2-litre diesel with 6-speed manual (175 PS power, 370 Nm torque)
  • 2-litre diesel with 6-speed automatic (175 PS power, 400 Nm torque)

In addition to all the features of the Z6 variant, the Z8 variant of the Mahindra Scorpio-N – both petrol and diesel – gets a push start-stop button, auto-foldable outside rear view mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, LED headlamps with auto on-off function, rain-sensing wipers, dynamic LED turn indicators, reverse camera, side and curtain airbags and tyre pressure monitoring system.

While the petrol versions continue with 17-inch steel wheels with wheel caps, the diesel versions get 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The four-wheel-drive variant, which is available as an option in the diesel-manual version of the Scorpio-N, also comes with the added facility of a 4XPLOR system with four terrain modes.

Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8 L

Price: Rs 18.99 lakh (petrol-manual RWD), Rs 19.49 lakh (diesel-manual RWD)

The Z8 L variant of the Mahindra Scorpio-N is the range-topping variant of the SUV, which gets added features like a six-way powered driver’s seat, a 12-speaker sound system from Sony, front parking camera and sensors, driver drowsiness detection and optional captain seats in the second row. While the diesel-powered versions continue with 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, the petrol versions get new 17-inch alloy wheels. The four-wheel-drive variant, available in the diesel-manual version as an option, gets a wireless charger as an additional feature.
