Toyota has previewed the all-new Urban Cruiser Hyryder, with bwhich Toyota hopes to cement its position in the burgeoning midsize SUV segment. Co-developed with Maruti Suzuki, the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is set to become the first SUV in its category to come with a full-hybrid powertrain. Bookings for the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder have already commenced for Rs 25,000 across India.

The new Urban Cruiser Hyryder has been confirmed with four different variants in its entire lineup – E, S, G and V. All these four variants of the SUV will come with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated K15C Dualjet petrol engine as standard. This engine will be offered with the transmission choices of a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. Sourced from Maruti Suzuki, this engine produces 103 PS of power and 136.8 Nm of torque, and gets mild-hybrid tech as standard. This powertrain will also get the option of an all-wheel-drive system with a manual gearbox in the range-topping V variant.

The star powertrain of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder will be an exclusive 1.5-litre four-cylinder TNGA Atkinson full-hybrid engine, which has been developed by Toyota and produces 115 PS of maximum power. This full-hybrid powertrain will be available in S, G and V variants and comes standard with an e-CVT gearbox as standard.

Toyota has revealed what features each variant of the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder will be getting. Here’s a detailed description of all the four variants across the lineup of the new SUV:

The E variant is going to be the base-spec variant in the lineup of Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and will be offered solely with the combination of a 1.5-litre petrol engine and 5-speed manual gearbox. On the outside, this variant will get features like LED projector headlamps with daytime running LEDs, LED tail lamps, 17-inch steel wheels with wheel caps, a roof-mounted spoiler and electrically adjustable and foldable rear view mirrors.

The all-black cabin of this variant is equipped with features like a 4.2-inch TFT MID in the instrument console, front armrest with sliding function, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, reclining rear seats and remote keyless entry. The list of standard safety features includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, vehicle stability control and hill hold assist.

It is the second variant in the lineup of Urban Cruiser Hyryder S. In addition to the 1.5-liter mild-hybrid petrol engine, which is offered with both 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options, the 1.5 full-hybrid engine with e-CVT gearbox also is available from this variant onwards.

The majority of the changes and inclusions in the Urban Cruiser Hyryder S variant, over the E variant, are on the inside. This variant gets additional features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, Alexa and Google Assistant, a 4-speaker audio system, connected car features, cruise control, steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls and a reverse parking camera. In addition to all these features, the automatic version also gets paddle shifters. Meanwhile, the full-hybrid version also gets additional features like a crystal acrylic grille, dual-tone black and brown finish for the cabin and a 7-inch fully-digital instrument console.

Over the features available in the lower-spec S variant, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder G variant gets a few additional features, which make it feel even more premium. On the outside, it gets fancier with features like full-LED headlamps, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, rear wiper and washer, auto-foldable rear view mirrors and chrome garnish on the window waistline. The cabin also gets more premium with newer inclusions like a bigger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 6-speaker Arkamys sound system, ambient lighting and side and curtain airbags. The full-hybrid version also gets additional features like a panoramic sunroof, head-up display and wireless charging.

Like any range-topping variant, the V variant gets some trendy features, which are worth the premium being asked over the lower G variant. All the versions of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder V, in addition to all the features of the G variant, get roof rails, Arkamys Sense surround sound system, leather upholstery, standard panoramic sunroof, head-up display, wireless charging, 360-degree parking camera and ventilated front seats. While the full-hybrid version also comes with a tyre pressure monitoring system, the all-wheel-drive version is benefited from drive modes and hill descent control.
